Finally Sold One on Alamy

Congrats :) I think I have about 11 photos on alamy :( keep promising to put more up, but never do! Well done though

Haven't seen you for a while. Was just thinking about you t'other day. Nice to have you back. Congratulations. It's a nice feeling when you sell something gives your confidence such a boost. Nice image too. Well done

Congratulations, may you sell many more. It's good to see you posting again. Well done, much deserved.

Well done Barry - good job!

Like Maureen I had noticed your absence of late :) Hope to see you posting some more now :)

Nice one, how much did you get for it if you dont mind me asking :)

$117, with the pound dropping like a stone that should translate to £117 by the end of the month ;)

I’ve been concentrating on Vector images so not had much to post on here recently but I promise to get on more and annoy you all :D

How do you go about seeing if you meet there quality criterea?
If you sell one, do you have to print it, frame it and post it?
Thanks Gary

Alamy supplies the digital image.

You have to submit a series of photos to the Alamy QC panel. If you pass you can then upload more.

The process is documented on Alamy website

Congratulations, very handy at this time of year, i notice that the minimum size of a jpeg has to be 48mb uncompressed, am i right in thinking that my D300 will only produce shots up to a maximum of 24mb..?

SCORE! Great photo as well mate :)

Sorry but can someone explain.
You upload your photos for free, people buy them and get the digital copy?
there paying £100 for a file?
is that correct
and then alamy take there commision?
Thanks Gary

Well done Barry

mt 400D doesnt take them that big in size i does it??

keriok i have read it... but it doesnt tell me how to get my images above 25 megs compressed?

Congratulations, Beautiful image, do you know where it's going to used so you can see the image once it been reproduced?

Ken

Ashers, it's

Minimum uncompressed file size of 48MB.
Maximum compressed file size of 25MB.

I think the Minimum means the value shown in the bottom of the image window in PS. The 450d produces images reporting 70Mb. The max is, I think the actual jpg file size, the 450d produces about 5mb at max quality in 8bit jpg.

so how do you make your picture that size they require?

because i tried all sorts and its rejected cause of the size

Sorry... I don't know. I've only been looking and never tried to upload. The file sizes I put in are what I get with my 450d. I recall on a thread some time back that you need to get the file size reported in the lower left in PS of the image to be over 48mb. There are some tutorials on here somewhere about getting through the Alamy validation process.

doesnt matter ive figured it i increase the resolution :)

Read the alamy info. its all there !

If they reject your test images they tell you why, also.

Increase the image size (bicubic) to 5050 on the longest side if using PS

and don't forget to save it as a jpeg. i send mine staright from a windows file. they never seem to go when exporting direct form cs

Yes. You upload it for free, someone searches Alamy, buys it at the fee suggested by Alamy. You get 60%, they get 40% and everyones happy.

Basically its a stock image archive and magazines or websites can buy a particular photo rather than commissioning a photographer to take it.

Price depends on the usage its going to be used for.

Quite a lot of people make their income, or supplement their income by shooting high quality images they think people may want to buy.

lol i know all mine will be rejected. and the reason will be they are terrible :)

Well done, sold around £400 worth myself over the last 6 months.
But how the hell do you cash in, can't find how you get them to pay you.

 Nothing ventured, nothing gained though

Is it like a job interview,if you get rejected that's it or can you keep trying until they accept and let you upload more
