After many years shooting on Nikon D7000 and D300 DX camera, I finally pulled the trigger last Friday to replaced my D300 with a D700 body. Bought a D700 (£750) in a recent able price in Calumet consider the D700 is in mint condition and only done 15k on the shutter. They did offer me a D3 (£950) which did 56k on the shutter but due to my budget, accessories and wife problem I decided to settle with the D700 instead.

The D700 maybe abit old school compare to D800, D810, D4, D600, D610, D750 but FF is FF at the end of the day and the performance is still top notch in my eyes. It was a recentable upgrade due because I had a D300 so battery grip etc still works on the D700.

Insteadly tried my Nikon 50mm f1.8, 28-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 and image quality is fantastic. Even on high iso where my D300 or D7000 will struggle on noise.

Loving my D700 now. Consider I do some day time sport, not sure if I wanted to upgrade the D7000 to another pro body FF or not.
 
I recently made the leap as well, And there's no comparison in image quality I've found, ff outshines drastically for what I take, and my lenses perform so much better! I might be able to pass myself off as a proper photographer now! Lol! Enjoy!! You'll never regret it. :)
 
First impression on the D700 in terms of feel and handling is no surprise to me because it feel and handle exactly like my old D300. I'm like a child when it comes to having a new toy, I tested the ISO on the camera straight away and it blows me out of the water. Their is noise on iso 6400 but detail is still their, so the image is well useable if i needed to shoot in that iso. My 50mm f1.8 never got use because i use the DX 35mm f1.8 most of the time but now the 50mm goes well on the D700.

The Nikon 28-70 f2.8 become a glue on lens on the D700 now where as the tamron 17-50 f2.8 goes nicely on my DX camera. Also a cheap tamron 19-35 i had ages ago which never got use, but i can see some use now on the d700 because of the wide angle side on FF.

The Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR1 is great on the D700 but it goes well on my D7000 because of the crop factor.

You'll enjoy using that D700. They were my main FF workhorse for a long time and never once let me down. Terrific bit of kit.(y)

what did you upgrade from plz

I did the same as you, went from a D300 although I bought the D750 as I had no real accessories to consider other than lenses. I'm still struggling as I'm now learning to use it in manual mode but when I do get it right the images are vastly superior. I also bought the 28-300 lens as a "Days Out" do everything kind of unit but I retained the 2 old lesnses (50mm and 85mm for landscape and portrait stuff. You'll never look back fella.
 
I went from a Canon 40D to a Sony A7R and couldnt be happier. Mainly for the high MP though, i do a lot of cropping. The huge dynamic range is a joy as well can bring back so much in processing.

Still cant décide to go from thé 7100 to 750 ahhh
 
You will see major improvement. I certainly did from my d300 altho i own a d7000 as well. High iso is better on a FF. I still kept my d7000 for backup and video work.
 
I've just gone from a Sony a58 to a canon 6d, sat at the door waiting for the postman!
 
Good on ya Matt. You deserve something to cheer you up a bit mate.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on the D700 vs D7000. My main interest is Portraiture so would only be used at low iso. Would I see a big enough improvement? Other option was to go for a D7100.

To be fair, if you shoot in low iso i can't really say a different between my d7000 and d700. i.e landscape etc.

did you find the image quality in low iso was much difference between the your 7000 and 750
 
If we talking about low iso, i.e below 1000 then i can't really see a huge different. Anything higher then 1000 i can see a difference in terms of noise.
