Just looking for feedback really. Not finished putting images up yet. Im glad phase 1 is complete though, ie, doing it. Need to have a think about how to change the format of the site to work well with portait images as well. But to be honest its going to be a work in progress for a while.

Thanks for stopoping by.:)

Looks real nice. It's a bit slow to load so maybe have it load up the visuals and then load the music once everythings displayed in case thats slowing it down.

Minor personal thing but the button colour didn't seem quite right to me. Also the copyright text is a bit to stretched out. Maybe use a different font for the textual elements and look at the kerning (space between characters/words).

Photos (the main content) are very good, inspiring especially to newbies like myself.

as betty said very swish and the music is cool to

Nice visuals mate but IMO lose the music, or at least change it....but make sure you have the copyright to do so...... the law is a terrible thing at the moment!

Definitely lose the music. It's the number one way to **** off a visitor. If a computer user wants music, they'll probably have it playing already, and won't want it interrupted.

Aside from that, I think you've used too many fonts and colours - why not just stick to one font and three colours? If you're not careful you'll distract the user from the (in my opinion, very good) photos.

Got to agree with what has already been said. First thing I did was stop the music (or did I swear first? ;)) anyway lose that.
Take more of those lovely shots! Design on the site is pleasing ans suits your material. Just a bit more would be nice!

Well thanks for the replies all 6 of you who took the time (said in humour).

Thats what I was looking for. Honest feedback. Will take on board what you peeps have said. As I say its just to get me up and running and will prob develop and get better over time. I am not a website designer and its quite time consuming after a day at work to come and sit in front of a pc again all night.

Thanks again :)

Great site, really like it (apart from the music, and the distracting music player).

I like your choice of images (and the images themselves) with the way that they all have a strong colour running through them.

Did you build the flash yourself from scratch?

The B in your name next to the buttons sits funny.. looks slightly cropped?
The site is very different to the usuall photography sites you see.. I think what you have so far projects a good image. The music does add a little flare but I would take the advise and get rid of it.. or make it much more subtle. I'm not a fan of music playing automatically on websites mainly because you never know how loud someones speakers are set or what environment they might be viewing your site in.

Music was the big no no for me. Some really good images though. Looking very good for a 1st website.

Morning (rubbing eyes),

I would just like to thank you for your replies and pointing out what now seems prettty obvious things.

So decided to have music player paused so site visitor has option to tinker with sound or not. Also cleaned up other bits to do with © symbol and general discrepencies with the text.

This should hopefully be my base now to work with for a while.

Thanks again & anymore feedback welcome.

Barrie.

Looking good. I like the simplicity. I'm not on a majorly fast broadband connection but the load time was perfectly acceptable. I do find the background electric blue and the lime green buttons distract from what are very nice images.

Like others have said, I would loose the music player completley. Most people are listening to something else (tv, media player, radio) while they browse anyway so it will only add to your load time and clutter the site.

Also, might be worth reducing the fade time between shots in the gallery - just to make it seem a little more responsive.

Well done.

its gets stuck at 79% for me

Here's a little thing.. Could you put a transparent image behind your buttons so that as your mouse comes off of one button to the next it doesn't make the menu flicker.. More noticeable going between the contact and gallery1 button but it does it will all of them.

Im not sure if im clear but basically I think it would be better if your mouse could be anywhere within the navigation bar and the buttons show a duller deselected state. :)
