Final Image

Hi All

I'm a bit confused, I've started taking ym shots in raw format (on my d90) and follow the current process:

1. Place raw files in a dated image transfer folder.
2. Open the folder in Adobe Bridge and then edit/crop/etc the ones I like and then send them (open) to Photoshop CS4.
3. Play around with any other post processing in Photoshop CS4.
4. Save to jpg in my "finished photo's" file.

I cant help thinking this isn't quite how its supposed to work. Should I process the images? Store in a different format for my final images?

I think I'm in a little out of my depth "running before I can walk" springs to mind :bonk:

ound good to apart from I save a working PSD file at full size. Output jpg's for what want them for ie web or club or printing.
I don’t always keep the jpg’s it not needed if you got the PSD I know some save them as tiff's

Oh and the RAW is kept as this will never alter

Sounds like a reasonable workflow to me. I'd agree with Chaz that PSD is a better way to store the processed image. If you need a JPEG then open the PSD and convert it.

Should you decide that raw is the way to go you may want to have a look at Lightroom. This stores all your changes within a database, and every time you view the image it shows it with the stored adjustments. That way you don't need an additional file with the changes incorporated into it. However you have to decide if the £200 for Lightroom is worth it.
