Hi I am just about to upgrade to a 60d and am wanting to get into wildlife photography mainly birds, so I've been planning to get a sigma 50-500 but have been pointed in direction of the 150-500 for the reason that i'd never use the 50 end of the 50-500!! As this is the wildlife section I'm curious to no what people use!!
Obviously there's alot of can 100-400 and sig 120-300 owners! But what swayed people to there lenses???

I have both a 60d and a 5d, I have the sigma 150-500 and a canon 70-200 f4. From experience I have found that anything short of 150 is mainly used for domesticate animals. Wildlife for me kicks in at 300+

Thanks!! How's your 60d, I'm a bit worried it's gonna be to big a step from my 450d!!

If this is your final decision :shrug:then perhaps you can request the Mods to lock your other thread to save people wasting their time replying to it

I get the feeling he means it's time to make the final decision

Why not rent the 2 lenses and test them side by side?

If you're used to handling a 450D I can't see why the upgrade should be a problem. Just read the manual.
If it bothers you that much, what's wrong with sticking with the 450D?

I jumped from a 350d to a 60d, I havent found it that much of a jump compaired to the jump to 5d. The 5d for me whas a huge learning curve.

If you decide on a Sigma 50-500 let me know as I am about to advertise mine.
