Hello, I have an issue, and would love some help!

Basically, I have a project in Final Cut that I linked the original movie files to that were on my macs desktop. However, through some stupidity I managed to delete the files off the desktop, so now when I open the project the files are "missing". I do have the original files backed up on a hard drive, which I've accessed and they're fine however my question sis..

How can I relink the files, and keep if possible, the precise settings to the second - as its very precise and to do it all over again would be very sad!

Any help and advice is much appreciated - it is only the visual movie parts that are required, the audio files are fine as they were seperate

Many thanks!

All the edits and changes you made in final cut will be saved in the project file You simply need to copy the files you have on backup to the mac desktop. Once you do that and open final cut all should be ok.

I take it you are getting the "Missing File" message. You could simply use the re-link option, provided the backup files are the same length as the orriginals

Hmm it doesn't seem to have worked - all the trimmed and edited files have vanished out of final cut but I've got the original files which have now been coped to the desktop.. But I'm getting this message now!

I take it the files have disappeared from the Library's event that the project was using. Try simply re importing them into the event.

I don't know how you organise your imports, but I generally consolidate all the media into the event. OK I know it gives a larger file than just leaving in place, but this way I know where everything is. And once a project is done and dusted it gets moved to an archive for keeping, less render files
