I posted this on my 52 Thread but I feel the need to vent more...

My sister, OH, nephew and neice were burgled on friday. My mum had taken the kids for the day so my sister could go clothes shopping and she came back with the two little-uns to find windows smashed and the place in a right mess. They even took the kids piggy-banks. My neice is only a baby but my nephew is three and savvy enough to understand whats going on.

It's the sentimental things that hurt the most - both my grandmothers jewellery that they left to my sister and I is gone, but they didn't take the stuff you can replace - xbox, tv etc.

Even took some of my sister's OH's clothes, hair gel and even his deoderant for christs sake... talk about invading your personal space.

I'm livid. How dare someone do that to my family.
 
That's awful, really sorry to hear about that Daysleeper. Hanging IS too good for these *******s. I wish you and your family the best and hope they catch those ****ers.
 
Could this have been "Junkies" - Its items you would think they would steal to get by on.

Makes my blood boil !!, these examples of lowlife that the taxpayers support, but that is not enough for them and they have to top up their "earnings" by stealing from the very people that support them through taxes on their honest earnings!!

This is madness. We cannot keep tolerating having scum like that in our midst.

Sheriff said he "could not see any alternative to a custodial sentence".
Why was he even bothering to look for an alternative.

Actually, although not the point made, but I find that difficult to believe, 30-40 bags of heroin!, even shoplifting and burglary to sell at knock off prices would not provide £300-400 to fund his habit, I think the toe rag is telling porkies there just to be sensationalist.

The world is full of tarry fingered scumbags like that, with and without the drug habit. Courts look for alternatives to prison because the poor wee souls are victims. Somebody looked at them the wrong way growing up, and the trauma has scarred them for life.... yada yada... blah blah blah. Off to the island with them!

Best of luck with the local plod BTW Daysleeper. If they are anything like our local force, they'll be too busy hiding behind trees with radar guns guzzling do'nuts to be bothered investigating anything.

Could be selling on some of the heroin and not using it all.
 
Terrible :( its the invasion that I find most disturbing, the theft of personally important possessions is just disgusting.
 
Thanks guys - I'd say it was definately small time junkie smack-heads. They took their laptop (many photo's have gone with that - reminder to always backup the ones you really want to keep) / passports but otherwise it was not a "professional" job. Ironic thing is you'd be better off it it were. Then they would pick and choose and only take the things that actually are valuable rather than say the whole jewellery box with the not so valuable but sentimental stuff in.

They did get a good fingerprint but I doubt that will come to anything.

They'll probably get a name. If it is a smack head chances are they'll have been done for something in the past and their prints will still be on record. I hope they do nail the SOB. The shame is they'll probably get off with a suspenbded sentence of CS, not the harsh custodial sentence they deserve.

Of course not, the harsh custodial sentences are reserved for the really vicious criminals like the granny who owes £50 on her council tax.

DS your sis and family have my sympathies - so frustrating and the loss of the treasured stuff must be heartbreaking :(
 
If I could irrevocable presidential powers for just one there would be a lot of changes.

A lot of dodgepots would not be around to create the misery that they currently do.
