Hi there- I am just about to purchase the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28, and will also be looking to purchase some photo filters, yet I have no idea how to be sure a filter will be compatible with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28.

Can someone advise me on how to make sure the filter I purchase is compatible with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28?

Okay, so the lens sits inside a tube which is threaded internally between the lens itself and the end of the tube. Right?

Your filters will screw into this thread.

So, you can check the owners manual for the lens diameter, you could run a micrometer or callipers into the end of the lens tube, or you could trot down to the local camera shop and ask them what they've got that would fit your lens.

(Don't forget you're working with the tube which contains the lens, not the outer tube of bigger diameter)
 
Tikka - thanks for the reply.

From browsing google for filters specific to the DMC-FZ28, they all seem to be "46mm" therefore can I purchase any 46mm filter? or is there more to filter compatibility?
