Bit of an odd question I know but can anyone tell me what lenses use the following filter threads? They seem really niche, and obviously massive.

86mm
93mm
95mm
105mm?

Thanks.

You're probably only considering 35mm lenses when you describe other sizes as "niche", Philip. Whilst there are some 35mm lenses using those sizes it's when you step into the world of medium format, things will become clearer.
So, from my cupboard;
86mm.....Medium format Carl Zeiss Jena 50/4 and 65/2.8 Flektogons, CZJ 180/2.8 Sonnar
95mm.....Carl Zeiss 15/2.8 (35mm Canon mount) and Meyer-Gorlitz 300/4 Orestegor (medium format)
105mm....typical size to use with Lee filter holder.

There are likely to be many other MF lenses from Pentax, Hasselblad et al that utilise these larger filters.

Of course, i didn't think of medium format! I wonder why Lee don't offer a wide angle adaptor rings for those types of lenses.

Thanks for the information tho, very helpful. :)

I don't think that there's enough metal left for a wide adapter from 86mm onwards. Lenses with a 95mm thread are typically 100mm outside diameter and Lee have a holder specifically for this size (adapterless).

The Tamron 150-600mm uses 95mm
and The Sigma 150-600 uses 105mm Filters..

my pentacon 300 f4 uses large filters but cant remmber what size
its a medium format lens :o

It's 86mm, Paul....the same lens (but re-badged) as the Meyer-Gorlitz 300/4 Orestegor that I listed in the second post.

If you add large format to the mix there are lots more lenses using these filter sizes.

On longer lenses you can get away with the Lee et Al 100mm filters on 105mm rings and sometimes with wide angles to on large format as you only need part of the image circle however for the really silly sizes its best to go to a larger size filter system I use the old Sinar 125mm filters for which I have some of the rings the larger ones are still useable on wide angles whereas you can't get away with that on say the Lee system.

My personal collection of silliness its either long or wide mostly and with the 120mm F4 you can apparently use rear mounted 82mm bayonet filters

86mm Sigma 170-500mm
Sinaron SE 240mm F5.6

95mm pentax 67 55-100mm F4.5
Pentax 67 500mm F5.6
Apo Germinar 750mm F14.5 in Copal 3
Nikon 150SW

105mm Mamiya 645 500mm F5.6
Apo Symar 300mm F5.6mm
Sironar N 360mm F6.8
Symar S 480mm F8.4

Heliopan ND centre filter 77mm
Heliopan ND centre filter 82mm
Heliopan ND centre filter 95mm

120mm Pentax 67 Super Multi Coated Takumar 400mm F4

At the extreme end of very silly front element sizes there are a couple of Large format wide angles with 135mm filter threads

Bombo holder system have adapter ring 95mm on 100mm holder system, it can use in very wide angle lens like Irix 15mm f/2.4
