Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before - I did have a quick search before posting.

Planning a holiday where I'll be doing a week of Landscape photography, now this is my weakest area as I'm usually shooting portraits. I was thinking getting myself a good filter set would be a sensible idea, I'm not a big fan of HDR and I'm not a photoshop expert.

What filters would I need to cover a range of options, the trip is to Iceland so will be a mix of day/night/snow/grass/waterfalls etc. Currently I just use a CPL.

I'd spend about £80 or so - is that realistic? I'll be using my 17-40L either on my 1D mkIII or on a 5D mkII if I change cameras for the trip. I'm thinking filter holder etc is the way to go?

I guess I'll need a holder, a CPL, some grad's and a stopper type maybe? is there a set 'filter pack' out there I can search for - I've heard HiTech are good mid-price, Cokin for lower price and Lee the higher end.

Just seeking advice as I want both filters that are good enough in quality but also I don't want to buy filters I won't need/use.

Thanks for any help.

You won't be able to go for the Lee or even probably the Hi-Tech on a budget of £80 I wouldn't have thought.

You might be able to do the Cokin ones for that budget but I'll leave the advice to the experts... I just know through researching them myself that just the holders themself could take up your whole budget :(

Nice one all!

I can up the budget a bit and also meant to say used/ebay is 100% fine with me.

I'll take a read now Mark.

Appreciate all the replies.

Top stuff Mark!

Will look out for a holder, then get a 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 hard grad plus a CPL. Hitech seem just about in budget maybe.
