Hi all,

looking to get some filters to fit my Cokin P filter holder.

Have had a look on formatt.co.uk and they sell -

Standard neutral density filters - 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 85mm @ £25.53
Graduated kit 4 - 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 85mm @ £29.79

would these suit my purposes, bearing in mind that I don't want to spend a lot to find out that I won't make much use of them.

Thanks,

John

Dont order them if you are in a much hurry though.
I ordered £200 quids worth of 100mm filters and a holder from them on the 30th and they have yet to arrive. They state usually 1- 2 weeks or up to 28 days, so could be anytime. No email contact eiter apart from the initial order.

Why not give them a ring and chase up?

Oh dear :shake:

Going away for a few days, at the end of the month, so was hoping to have them by then. Looks like I'll have to look elsewhere, but thanks for letting me know.

Because its still well within thier delivery timescale. Once it hits two weeks I may well do.
Ive ordered a Prostop 10 stopper, so if they are anything like Lee's Big stopper, there is probably a bit of a waiting list.

Tom, i ordered a Hitech 100 PRO STOPPER 10 - ( 1.5mm Gasket) Lee 100 fit and it was delivered in 3 days with 1st class recorded delivery which was their cheapest option. Looking forward to using it at the weekend at Happisburgh :woot::woot:

Recently? Hmm I'll ring them tomorrow then. Cant remember what postage I ordered.

Seems like Hitech are the way to go, can I just confirm what I should get.

ND 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 85mm and
Grad ND 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 85mm.

Cheers,

John

It's difficult to say without knowing what lenses you're going to be using and what kind of shots you are taking.

Assuming you're not using anything wider than 24mm (35mm equivalent), the 85mm filters should be fine. I've never used the 0.3s as I find that one stop of ND isn't really significant enough to make a difference (it can usually be compensated for some other way).

I personally have a 0.9 standard ND and 0.6 hard, 0.9 soft, and 0.9 hard grad NDs and find they cover me for most situations.

Thanks Mark
Widest I can go, at present, is 17mm on a D90, so approx 24mm 35mm equivalent.

Makes sense about the 0.3, so you've probably saved me a few quid.

My stuff still hasnt arrived and its been over 2 weeks, so I contacted them today and they said they are awating stock of thier filter holders (I thought they made them??) They wont have any at all until July 26th.

So if you need them urgently, then dont order direct from Formatt!

Think I'll go with premier, just have to check if there's an additonal charge to Northern Ireland (something which annoys the hell out of me :nono:)

Well just bit the bullet and ordered from premier and no surcharge to Northern Ireland

Just hope I ordered the correct gear and then I'll have the fun of learning how to use it.

Ordered the following -
Kood nd2, nd4, nd4 soft, nd4 hard, Cokin ND8, Kood P type CPL and a 52mm adapter. Already have a cokin p holder and a 72mm adapter.

Received filters from Premier, so excellent service from them.

Just have to learn how to use them now.

Cancelled my order from formatt. Was taking far to long and unless prompted there was no communication. Bought a Lee soft grad set and holder on eBay for £150 which was actually cheaper than the Formatt set I ordered, so it's actually worked out quite nicely.

Formatt will chop and change filters for you within a kit at the kit price. E.G. I ordered an ND kit but with 0.6, 0.9 & 1.2 at no extra charge.

Not much use if it takes them a month to actually get stock and ship though.
