Just when I thought I understood enough to venture to the (online) shops to buy my first ND Grads, I've spotted something which causes me to stop and ask the proverbial daft question.

The Filter Holder can cost £3.49 (Kood) or £6.49 (Cokin) or £48.93 (Hitech).

(VAT inclusive prices)

Why the huge difference in price? Or am I missing something basic about the Hitech product. At that price it should come complete with a couple of little elves to help change the filters.

I'm not sure about the hitech or kood but I know the cokin is a fixed peice of plastic with a fixed number of slots - if you want less you have to cut the holder.

lee on the other hand let you add/remove slots with 2 screws on each side.

I think maybe the Kood is also rigid and maybe the Hitech changable.

I'm also assuming that you are looking at the 85mm hitech rather than the 100mm, that might also affect the price

Mine's Lee and it's a lovely piece of equipment. Brass screws and hardware, adjustable slots, it's own little padded case. And with optional extras you can fit a 105mm polarizer.

Yes - 85mm Hitech.

Thanks for your replies. Still not sure why the huge variance in price

Why does one pair of jeans cost a couple of hundred quid plus, when you can get a pair in Burtons for peanuts?

The HiTech holder on TeamWorks site is a metal one. Have a look on Formatt's site (they make HiTeck filters) and they do a plastic one for around £6 - £7.

NOW you tell me! :bang:

I've made the jump and gone for 100mm. And metal!
