Okay. I know there are numerous threads on filters and which make etc. etc.. I have read through them and have succeeded in totally confusing myself:shrug:

My situation is this. I have a Tamron 17-50 (67mm) and will be purchasing a Sigma 10-20 (77mm) as I have decided to give Landscape photography a go. I should say from the outset that I cannot justify Lee filters on the grounds of cost.

I am looking for an 3 stop ND grad, a 3 stop ND and a 10 stop filter.

Should I,

(a) Purchase a Lee 85mm filter holder and 3 Hitech filters?

(b) Purchase a Hitech 85mm filter holder and 3 Hitech filters?

(c) Purchase a Cokin or Kood P holder system and 3 Hitech filters?

(d) Purchase a 77mm Haida 10 stop with a 67mm step up ring and the Hitech ND and ND grad.

I am also worried that 85mm may not be big enough for the lenses mentioned. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Don't cokin P series having something called Filter Holder for wide angle lens? I've never use one so can't tell you will it solve the problem for wide angle lens.

I use Haida 10 stop ND and its good quality for the price you paying.

85mm filter holder i would just get cokin or kood to behonest since they all pretty much the same.

I have a lee Foundation kit, with a 77mm wide angle ring (which you will need) and a 67mm ring, i have a set of Hitech 100mm grads and hi tech 10 stopper, i think for the money the grads are fab, hopefully come Christmas i will upgrade to a set of lee

If I go for a Lee holder will I need the 67 mm wide angle ring as well? Am I right in saying that the wide angle holder only holds 1 filter?

Don't think 85mm would be suitable if you are using wide angle (10mm).

Try flee bay. I've just picked up the complete Lee Foundation kit for £45. I'm just waiting for the various rings to come up at the right price. Can't see the point of buying all this new as there isn't that much to break on them. Filters I'd buy new.

The rings are for your lenses, they screw in, then you attach the Lee holder and from there use the slide in Filters

Thanks. I will probably look at the 100mm filters then. No point in having to sell the whole lot when I get the Sigma 10-20.

I was just wondering if the wide angle rings only hold 1 filter as I may want to put the grad on as well.

The rings don't hold the filter, they hold the filter holder, you can then slide up to 3 filters in the holder
