[Filter Fantastic] - Interesting interpretation of "the lenses are clean"

I can stop worrying about trying to sell this, at least! :)

It's quite simple - be very precise, mention and defects, marks and dust, give details about coatings and age of lens and also what's included only.

I very nearly bought from Filter Fantastic with their 'too good to be true' prices on a 16-35 MkII. I found out she lives in Stourbridge, conveniently where the Mrs lives but would not let me go round, inspect goods or pay for them in person as they were 'held and distributed by a distribution centre'.

Basically, there are three of them working out of the garage.

Right, I got my call and it was quite an interesting conversation.

Hi Mike,

The web page you created is a good idea, but I had a quick look at the meta data and might be an idea to get the keywording all up to scratch so a Google search will return your page ;)

For example:

Tracey Fredericks, Harbour48, Filter Fantastic, Alldigital0869, ebay seller, ebay...etc

This would help the ones who do bother to run a search to see what TF and her team are made of before they spend any serious money.

I have a vague understanding of what meta data is but any chance of a pointer as to how to implent it on the page?

I'm no where near a good person to ask but I'll have a go.

Here's a link I found that kinda explains it:

http://searchenginewatch.com/2167931

So, your HTML could be edited like so:

<head>
<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<meta name=ProgId content=Word.Document>
<meta name=Generator content="alldigital0869-Harbour48-filterfantastic">
<meta name=Originator content="Tracey Fredericks, Harbour48, Filter Fantastic, Alldigital0869, ebay seller, ebay, traders, fraud, scam, review....">

Hopefully they'll be some brainy and kind TP member to suggest a far better way.

Well I've just added some new search tags, the ones you suggested as well as their VAT number, postcode, phone number, shop name, email address.

As you say though, it's all about whether people do their research, I know I didn't before my experience.

Good on yer Mike.

I also didn't do any research before buying from them but at least were doing our bit now eh :thumbs:

It just got a little bit more interesting, alldigital0869 has just offered me £20 for me to agree to have the neg feedback removed. Full details at original link http://comica.co.uk/alldigital0869.htm

I've just looked, my neg has been reinstated. I am a happy bunny tonight.

BTW I read your page and I can tell you why your feedback was removed

o mention of dust or scratch, had to engage Ebay for full refund. Uncooperative

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/feedback-abuse-withdrawal.html

References to eBay or PayPal investigations

That's how it got removed.

Apparently not. Whilst ebay themselves would not tell me why it had been removed, alldigital0869 were kind enough to shoot themselves in the foot by telling me.

They told ebay that because they resold the lens and received positive feedback for it that I must be wrong. Happily, after a few phone calls, my negative feedback has been reinstated and I now have alldigital0869 begging me to remove the neg. :lol:

You shouldn't remove the Neg as the whole point of feedback is to give other buyers your honest impression. Don't sell out for £20 (or anything).

Sling this in after the last meta tag:

<title>Tracey Fredericks, Harbour48, Filter Fantastic, Alldigital0869, ebay seller, ebay, traders, fraud, scam, review</title>

The TITLE attribute has much higher precedence than anything else for google, so if you want that thing found for something, make sure that something is in the title tag.

Cheers mate ;) I was hoping someone would chime in with a little more know how :thumbs:

Oh, I have no intention of removing the neg, they just couldn't pay me enough. I just love the fact that they have changed their tune so much now that the neg was reinstated.

I also contacted the buyer who left the latest neg, he's of the opinion that he won't buckle for £20 either :)

Lovely, thank you.

I can't believe that Friederick's odyssey still continues. Buying another item from them would be unimaginable just to cash £20.

Buy something for a fiver and demand £15 back.

I wonder what would happen if you tell ebay about the offer from them to remove the feedback.
That must be against some kind of terms of service

You utter star :1st: I've done what you suggested and a quick google of some of those keywords has my page showing high in the first page of results.

Indeed, although I'm now a blocked bidder under that ID :lol:

I'm hoping that my intervention has been the cause of them losing their 100% rating.

A total of five negs in less than two weeks

bought 2 lenses from alldigital . had a bit problem with the last one, had to wait 1 week or so , but the sent me lens that was a bit newer model although they said that they will include free filter because of the set backs. they didn't but well. had no prob, with the first one. It actually was CLEANER :O than in the pics !!!! :D

anyway - I guess I wouldn't deal with them again :) . 90% of the stock - i don't know where they get it - from rubbish bins ? they look so heavily used. dust, scratches etc, etc.

They get most, if not all, of their stock from ebay. Have a look for filterfantastic08, their buying account.

i see. I don't know how to search for accounts. looked at the selling stuff - not so bad. there was a time when a lot of the stuff he was selling looked bad.

Strangely, I can hardly find any camera gear in that condition on ebay from normal sellers. They must be specifically looking for 'spares and repairs' then.

Looks like filterfantastic08 has now changed name to tpbonline. They've started selling some low value stuff from the beginning of this month so I wonder how long it will be before alldigital0869 becomes the buying account.

Hello All.

I have just listed a post regarding the "alldigital" site on eBay asking for advice, but after searching this site and found this has worried me, and I think I may pass on the D2h, and D200 bodies I thought of purchasing......

Cheers Paul
