Films youre looking forward to..

Rush.

A Ron Howard film about the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda They were at Snetterton the other week and have been at Cadwell this week filming scenes for the film

Prometheus....number one, without a doubt...

but;

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Killer Joe
Brave
Chernobyl Diaries and
Dark Knight Rises

...oh my...

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

what is to look forward to about this?

I saw the title and assumed it was a joke, then I watched the trailer and realised it was a graphic novel.

I thought it looked ridiculous, have you read the book and know something I don't?

THIS! Forgot this was out at the end of the year. Ron Howard and F1, this is going to be right up my street.

Tiny bit harsh Joe, everyone has their own tastes. We might think the same about films you're looking forward to :p

no, i'm geniunely curious. I'm not slating his desire to want to see it, I want to know what in it has made him want to see it.

Some films I thought looked absolute tosh, but when I watched them they were very good and I was really surprised, I'm curious to know if this abraham lincoln one is the same. It's in a genre that I usually really enjoy

holy thread revival!

so with 2012 coming to a end, without giving away any spoilers was everyone suitably impressed with the films they were looking forward to?

prometheus probably my film of the year. ted was hillarious.

dark knight rises disapointed me slightly, it was just lacking in something.

Prometheus was kind of dissapointing imho, carp acting and Fx were not much better. Ted on the other hand ( Joe, left or right one I dont give a toss ) was up my street. As for the next one I would like to see.

Judge Dredd was my favourite and best use of 3d in a film i reckon. :)

Prometheus was great and i kind of enjoyed Sinister too.

Loved Prometheus.
Watched Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter t'other week and found that to be an enjoyable enough romp too.
Looking forward to World War Z

Promethius didn't disappoint here either.
Hobbit definitely.
World War Z....not so sure. I have a dreadful feeling.
Wouldn't go and see Jack Reacher if you removed my fingernails with pliers.

Fortunately, I haven't yet read the book so the film doesn't have too much to live up to, although numerous reshoots doesn't bode well i'm a sucker for zombie movies :)

Can't really get excited about the Hobbit. The LOTR trilogy bored me to tears, so unfortunately it's been tarred with the same brush.

Would rather chew my own arm of than watch The Hobbit!
I have read World War Z, I think turning that into a film is a hell of a challenge, but I do veyr much love zombie things
(Zombie fans, I cannot recommend enough playing 2.8 Hours Later when it comes to a city near you)

Isn't the hobbit only being shown in 3D?

That's a big turn off for me.

No. SOme cinemas are electing to only show th 3D version. But widely available in 2D.

Looking forward to se django

Saw Prometheus in 3D and was very impressed. It wasn't all in your face and was used in such a subtle way it gave immense depth. I also watched Avatar in 3D and it looked poo.

Yeah I saw Avatar in 3D, and whilst I enjoyed it, when I watched it again in 2D on DVD it certainly hadn't 'lost' anything for me.

Worst film of recent times I saw in 3D was Clash of the Titans...oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Looking forward to the following:

The Impossible - Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts about a family split up during the Tsunami. Looks like it could jerk a few tears.

World War Z - zombies are always good fun.

The Great Gatsby - DiCaprio will be wonderful, he always is. Not sure if I'm a Baz Lurhman fan but it'll be visually arresting nonetheless.

Elysium - Bourne goes futuristic courtesy of Neill (District 9) Bloomkapf.

This is 40 - bit of a sequel to 'Knocked Up' but following Paul Rudd and his wife as they turn 40. Funny guy.

Jack Reacher - just to see how much Tom Cruise annoys Reacher fans. Never read the books so don't know what I'm supposed to expect but I do love Cruise in most things.

Cloud Atlas - trailer looks amazing. Book sounds bonkers

Gangster Squad - Noir meet the Untouchables. With Sean Penn doing another mental turn.

There are so many more that sound/look great :)

Fair point and well made. If you've not read the books you'll probably thoroughly enjoy it :)

I enjoyed Prometheus, it felt true to the original Alien series, looking forward to the sequel.

Watched it with my folks and the missus.... the women started howling with laughter when the alien appears and she's operating on herself. My Dad wasn't far behind. None of them saw the link between the it and the Alien films.... I was appalled

Watches it a few times since and despite some of the ropey acting, throwaway characters and the plot holes, I thought it was good :)

Rogue Trooper...if only someone would make it :shake:

I'm still waiting for someone to make the Rama quadrology. David Fincher has hinted over the years it's a project he wants to realise but not sure it'll ever get made

Carry on Doctor seems to be a blast.

For me I'm looking forward to:

Iron man 3
Thor: the dark worlds
Kick ass 2
Man of steel

And anything post apocalyptic :)
