Yes
I have just sat and watched "The Colour Purple" for the first time in ages and I admit to weeping buckets at the end, when that evil so-and-so finally comes good and gets the sister back home. So what films have made you cry.........and why???

It has to be "Pharlap" about the australian racehorse in the 1930's. won almost every race but then died mysteriously ,suspected gangster related....... never get fed up watching this film and weep buckets everytime I see it.

Forest Gump was the first movie to make my cry as an adult. The first movie to make me cry as a child was Ghoulies Go To College.

Also, The Fallen made me cry just last week. The documentary about the British service personal who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq and their families.

The Pianist By Roman Polanski very hard film to watch.

I was discussing this the other day with some friends funnily enough as my son's gf sobbed her way through "PS: I Love You"!

On my list of guaranteed tear jerkers: West Side Story, Meet Joe Black and The Family Way - a sob fest!!! :D

This will sound silly, but the endings of The Iron Giant and Barnyard actually brought tears to my eyes. I mean, they're only cartoon films!

Schindler's List, the end where they say good by to him and he is given the gold ring.

Another one for Schindler's List. Also Armageddon.

Agree about Schindler's list.

I'm curious why Armageddon has that effect. Is it because it's so bad?:)

Dead Poets Society, or not quite a film, but the last episode (Two Cathedrals) of West Wing Series 2, possibly the best bit of drama ever filmed on TV.

From probably the best drama series ever put on TV ,Martin Sheen was awesome in The 2 cathedrals and yes i cried at that as well

I cry at anything...hell I am crying at this thread!

(I am not, it is a joke, but I do cry at anything remotely sad)

I must be one of the few who likes the film. It's just the ending that got to me.

Ha, and I thought I was the only one. I was only like 13 at the time and wept like mad! Some reason The Return of the King where everyone meets up at the end got to me a bit, agree with Schindler's List too.

I am a right soppy so n so- blart my eyes out at most films.. ET has gotta be on the list- I remember sitting watching it with my dad both of us went through a whole box of tissues..

Love Actually- Its just the ending- gets me everytime..

And Il never live this down.. but a few weeks ago I was in the pictures- took my kids to see High School Muscial 3- And yep - I blubbered my way through that too- much to kids amusement...

I guess Im just a sentimental blubber wuss...

I saw Schindler's list at the Cinema and it's the only film that I've seen where everyone stayed sat in their seats as the credits rolled. :(

For me ..

1) Meet Joe Black, a great and sad movie.
2) Cast Away, for many reasons I related to that story a lot.

but the one that always gets me ...

3) Star Wars, the death of Obi, Amidala, Yoda and Lord Vader / Anakin.

The Dam Busters for me, thanks to composer Eric Coates.

I've never cried at any film, ever. I must be a stone-hearted ******* or something!

+1 for Dead Poet's Society
Also cried watching The Great Debaters, Of Mice and Men, The Edge, The Patriot - great movies with some very sad moments :'(

OK shoot me,but talk about cry.
In church today the Vicar was called in at short notice so didn't have a sermon ,but related to us a tail of a Lady with faith even after a trial of immense magnitude.

They had a daughter who was an only child ,an on Christmas eve she fell ill with asthma .
On January 11th she died.
The couple after much thought went for adoption ,after checks they where told the could adopt ,so chose two sisters.

They where delighted with them .
After a year the husband went to his office and being the 11 of Jan the anniversary of his dead daughter was in a sad mood.

He promptly had a heart attack and died.
The local authority got in touch with the Mother saying as She now had no partner ,they where taking the girls off Her.

After the funeral of Her Husband the vicar went home with Her and was completely lost for words, and ended up crying buckets with Her.
He said he was sorry for the loss of comforting words for Her ,but She said to be with someone to cry with was more of a comfort.........

Well ,I think there wasn't a dry eye in the Hall..................:'(

My film to cry along to is The King and I,with Yul Brynner.Gets me every time.

Thats not me I hasten to add.

(Although I probably would!)

When I was younger I never used to get emotional at films and TV...just stare at them like this :|.

Now, I blub like a girl at most stuff..lol

Schindler's List is my favourite movie ever so I'll add another vote for that one. The scene that springs to mind is when the Sonderkommando are sorting the luggage after the deportations and the camera pans across the pile of photos, (with Anne Frank's photo on top.) It makes me think of the 'wall of photos' at Birkenau and brings a lump to my throat everytime I watch it.

Oddly, I find the end of Withnail And I very sad. The rest of the movie is the funniest thing ever but the last scene, as Withnail's friend leaves for work elsewhere and Withnail takes his lonely walk across the park as the credits roll, makes me feel utterly sorry for him. Richard E Grant is brilliant in this movie and he should have got an Oscar nomination for his performance IMHO.

armageddon, apollo 13, cant remember any more at the moment but im sue there are plenty.
