Perhaps it is just me, but I like my exif and metadata. How do you all keep track of your shots; settings etc. Do you carry a little 'notebook' or have something a bit more technologically advanced?
 
There are some that will use a notebook and some that will use one of the apps available for various phones I prefer to use the force :D
 
There are apps for iphone etc that let you record information such as lens and camera, shutter speed, aperture and film type etc, then write the information to image files on the computer after you've scanned the film. All the information is then available on lightroom etc.

They're pretty good apps but I got fed up with recording the info after every shot lol.

Think the iPhone app is called photoexif or something similar, but I'm sure there is an android version out there
 
Note book for me, for basic settings, but mainly for reminding me which frames I've got loaded and what's been exposed.
 
I'll only take notes if I'm testing a camera and need to know if a specific speed is out or how unsharp a given aperture is.
 
Some of the later generation film SLR's did have the ability to store the shot information 'in camera' which can then be downloaded to one of those new fangled computer type devices.

I'm pretty sure this was available on the Nikon F100, F5 & F6. Although I've never seen the required MV-1 and what connectors it had/needed.
 
The Pentax MZ-S writes exposure information on the film, between the frames, I believe. I was looking for one for ages, then I realised I'd have to get new lenses to make it work, and the result would be an autofocus, auto-advance, auto-exposure film camera, which for me somewhat misses the point of film!

I did have a look at one of those smart phone exif4film type apps, but IIRC it assumed you were only using one camera, and I typically have two on the go at any one time, so I gave it a miss. I did try using a little voice recorder when I was testing my Sunny 16 ability (total carp), but the trouble was I'd miss a frame or two, and when transcribing it was hard to work out what had happened.

Easy when you only shoot 10 frames a year... ;)
 
Cool, I've been searching the app store but couldn't find much, but will have another browse...
 
Exif4film is great - you can export the saved data (including geotag) and write them to the scanned files.
 
Unfortunately it is Android only :(

See if your local Sainsbury's still have any cheap Huawei Android phones - they're not locked to their network and will give you an entrée into Android without breaking the bank. I have one for use as a remote viewer/release for some of my cameras as well as it being a spare phone.
 
I don't write anything down, its all in me head......except dates.....I'm crap on dates, its the only thing I regret not recording..:)

Maybe if you made a note, reminding yourself to remember to... Never mind, it gets too complicated. :D

PhotoExif app on my iPhone and iMac.
 
That one looks really nice. Is it just Nikon graphics? Any Mamiya in it? :)
