I guys

Can anyone recommend a good place to get 135 and 120 film processed and possibly scanned? Cheaper the better as its only for lomography type projects.

For 35mm try supermarkets. ASDA do a roll developed and scanned for £3. Think it's £2 for dev then £1 per roll scanned to CD. You can have multiple rolls (up to 4) per CD. Can't imagine supermarkets do 120 though! Check out the 'film developing in the UK' sticky, most lab sites have prices on there.

Plus that sounds really good didn't know Astra still did developing

I have used both Sainsbury's and Asda for 35mm process and scan to CD and I have been happy with results from both. Asda is the cheapest at £3 for 1hr service, where Sainsbury's is £4 for a 24 exp roll and £5 for 36 exp. I think Sainsbury's charge an extra £1 on top of their prices for a 1 hour service though.

Do they do black and whites?

Shouldn't be a problem if the film is C41 process (it'll tell you on the packaging and film cassette)

Forgot to mention the ASDA service I got was 1 hour (they were actually done in less than that). Scans are about 1800x1200, quality is not great to be quite honest but for the price/convenience it will certainly do for snaps.

Have a look here
http://storelocator.asda.com/

Search for you area, any stores with photo depts have the camera icon next to the name

It doesn't necessarily mean that they do developing though, London Park Royal has the icon but they stopped doing film a few months back. You can take a CD/memory stick in and get prints from it.

I'd just like to add a recommendation for Club 35 who still had soft copies of my scans on their machine when Royal Mail lost/delayed the ones that were posted. As the photos were of the rehearsal for the Olympics opening ceremony, I was very relieved.

Very true, as has been mentioned it makes sense to call first! I took a gamble on my nearest one and thankfully they still do film... would have been a bit peeved after a hilly 5 mile bike ride if they didn't.
