I heard, from someone in a position to know these things, that illford prices are going up 10% next month.

Yes, it is going up. Just managed to get a box of 8x10 before the price rise thankfully. A format I'll probably never be able to afford to shoot in colour.
 
I think every one will be putting up film prices. Got some phoenix ii as I was planning to get more but in a few months time. May as well have it now,

I assume everything else will be going up like developing costs, postage etc. Just when you think this crap is over someone else starts another large multi country disagreement :rolleyes:
 
Prices varying rather a lot at the moment. Just checking out 2xFP4, 5xKentmere100 and 5xKentmere200, all 36 exposures. Comes to £83.43 at Analogue Warehouse but £72.60 at Wex! Both free delivery above £50.

I find this page useful in checking film prices, although it's initially confusing as prices are for one roll including delivery, so I always check through: https://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/Film .
 
To be honest, I've got a few films to use up, but beyond that I don't know what I'm going to do. Maybe the odd roll, now and then. But it's getting silly.
 
Filmprocessing.co.uk do some decent prices on film. It's one I check. Got my FP4 from them.

Some are better for a couple of rolls and others are better if you buy lots at once.
 
I have a large stock of film, in recent years there have been quite high price hikes, so I've bought just prior.

Also, I've been getting paid with film when I do repairs and restorations. So currently I have 110 rolls of 120 excluding Infra Red, and over 900 sheets of 5x4. 275 sheets of 10x8. Then Quarter Plate, 9x12, and not forgetting 35mm, a format I rarely use, oh and 7x5.

Film expiry dates are a little misleading as they were once much longer, for ISO 9002 compliance they were significantly shortened. That was more about stock rotation on dealers shelves.

Well I have stacks of agfa vista in the freezer but I lose out when getting the film dev etc as they are only 24 exp and filmdev charge the same for 24 or 36 exp :(

Filmprocessing.co.uk charge slightly less for 24 exposures. £1 less I think. Negative return is included in the cost too. With standard scans that's £8 for a roll. They also do dev only with negative return so you could get it processed for £4 a roll excluding postage out.

That's a good price as their cheapest scan is 2728X1830px..........can't find what film scanner they use on "chatgpt"

I have several rolls of Kodak Portra 8 or 9 160, about 14 of the 400 and 1 roll of 800 I'll need to get them out and count them if you're interested enough. I also have a couple of rolls of Ektar 100 same circumstances, plus 2 rolls of Cinestill 400T same. In B&W I have 8 or 9 rolls of Tri X, 2 of FP4 + and 1 or Harmon 400. Additionally I have some out of date films that haven't been stored as carefully before I put them in the freezer about 5 years ago which I will throw in as a bonus.

I think around £10 per roll for the Portra/Ektar and £6 for the B&W stuff is what I'd be looking for. If poss I would prefer to sell as a batch rather than split.

I'm in the process of selling 17 boxes of out-of-date 120 slide film, 10 boxes gone so far. It hasn't been stored consistently well and given the price of processing and the fact that scanning colour negative film is easier, I decided to be rid of it. It has made enough at the moment to buy a backup EOS 5D Mark III camera body for my museum work having been relying on one body (EOS 6D) for the last few months. I've still got loads of colour negative and black and white film left, mostly frozen. I can't imagine I'll need to buy much film, if any, in the near future. I bought a lot of this film when prices were right down.
