Don't be put off by the title, it's a friendly, fun competition to get us all out shooting on film. There is no need to sign up or commit to anything, that said it would be nice to say "hi" if you are thinking of having a go and chat about any thoughts or concerns in this thread. You can enter on any individual month or every month and there is a winner chosen by public vote each month and a running total for the over-all winner.

>>> Rules and themes are here <<<

Shooting starts in December to allow time for using up a roll of film and getting it processed for entries in January. So stock up on film and test your camera, happy shooting :)

Is the January thread up yet?
Not yet, I usually put the thread up after I have done the previous month's results. I realise that its a new year but I was going to stick to that pattern. The poll closes on December entries on Friday I think.

Can the "sticky thread" part of this section be tidied up please. When convenient.

Get rid of the 2025 stuff into the archives and make the 2026 tog of year "entries" thread a sticky.

I appreciate that your all really busy, and is not meant as criticism at all.

I endeavor do that on a monthly basis ...

Given that it was the end of year, I left the 2025 threads pinned for a while to give people a chance to see them.

Thanks for the update Sirch,

I was not aware of the routine you already have in place. (y)

I'm really annoyed that I missed the cutoff for January. I went out specifically shooting for it, but then found that I couldn't find my darkroom gear and chemicals in the garage - not unpacked from the house move nearly 2 years ago. So I had to send the film off to D&Scan, and the scans are not with me yet. I may have complicated things for the lab by shooting on the Linhof 617 - a lot of labs can't scan 617 negs (I'm not even sure AW can but they don't say they can't!). I'm anticipating having to make my own bespoke frame for scanning the negs. When I was in Northants, Skears (who sold me the camera) said they were happy to do it and showed me some samples. Anyway, I'm now stocked up with chemicals, I just need to find the kit box in the garage.

I just wanted to add to my previous post - Analogue Wonderland did develop and scan my 617 negs on 120 file absolutely fine, which is good to know.
Sadly I got my exposures wrong and couldn't rescue them in LR anyway, but it was good practice. I was using the little TTArtisams mk1 metering device - lovely thing but as has been reported elsewhere, it is not accurate. Its appears to be a couple of stops off. Apparently the newer version is more accurate. We'll see, I think I'm going to rely instead on my phone light meter app or one of my other cameras.

I woke up this morning to a bit of brightness so despite having a load of other things to do I thought I'd go and shoot some symmetry for this months theme. Having not shot film for a while there was the inevitable faff and a senior moment with loading the film so by the time I got out of the door the best of the light was gone but I got out anyway and then came back and finished the roll on some "studio" shots.

The negs are drying so no idea yet if I've got anything worthwhile but fingers crossed, I might manage an entry this month

Good Luck with the negs!

You did not need luck after all, congratulations, a lovely image!
