Well I've finally realised my photographic style, I've been getting into Film Noir and never really knew it until a couple of days ago when I was looking it up on the net.

I was wondering however what lighting would be needed for alot of the set ups?

I assumed one or two lights that are either flash or continuous lighting and have a way of controlling the light such as snoots. It's got to be hard lighting from how are see it, so what sort of lighting would you recommend?

I've got a jessops flash atm and I've looked at the Yongnuo Led video lights (not flashguns).

Yongnuo Led video lights (not flashguns).

I've been contemplating these for a while, they look very useful, and if nowt else, a nice easy low level light source for £40.

Get yourself some flash grids for your speedlight...I don't know where to get them any more, mine came from flash in the pan and are perfect :/

They seem quite powerful, have a look at the 183 led version ;)

it's got 11 watts of power and needs a 12v power pack which is quite good because it gives 4 hours of lighting it's twice the cash though at £80 a piece although still the same price as a Jessops 360afs flash.

Hi Luke,

take a look at the Tiptop Photographic Club site. They shot a Film Noir session recently and you can see the details and photographs that resulted. Some excellent work and you can follow up on any enquiries that may help
