Hello everyone,

I get the horizontal transparent stripes on the film from my old Mamiya 645 J.
Someone told me it's a lock issue. Would anyone be able to advise some place around London (or Bucks) for repair?

Hi there,

I'm not familiar with any places around London, as I'm based in Glasgow, but I'm sure someone in the Talk Film and Conventional section would be able to point you in the right direction.

Maybe you could ask one of the Mods to move this thread to that section, as I'm concerned that it might get overlooked here in the feedback/critique section?
 
Could you post a sample image? It could just be light seals, it's pretty common on the M645's.

It could be a sticky shutter, if you haven't used it much recently it may free up if you spend an evening cocking and firing the shutter or just send it away for a CLA.

A lot of us in the f&c section use Miles Whitehead, drop him an email mwcamerarepairs@aol.com

He's pretty busy so it may take a little while but he is good. There are other repair services that folk on here have used and I'm sure they'll be along with their own recommendations.
 
I am with Nick here on the shutter as there looks to be over and underexposure and i guess that as you were taking a moving shot with the speed is at max. so the shutter problem fits.

Take Nick's advise on just using the shutter as much as you can for 24/48 hours and then try, if no improvement then CLA is the answer maybe.
 
I was playing with a 645 Super earlier - the shutter runs horizontal - is it the same on the J? If it is, then the shutter isn't the problem - if it's vertical, it looks like we found our culprit :)

Are you sure? It's vertical on my 1000S.

And can we rule out not enough developer in the tank?

EDIT: It would appear that the Super and Pro have horizontal shutters and the 100S and J have vertical shutters.
