Yes
Just wondered if anyone else had seen the film Antichrist with Willem Dafoe? I wouldn't normally watch such a scary film (last 30 minutes is!) but I watched it last night and was spellbound by the amazing "photographic" qualities of how it was shot...amazing use of lighting, composition, rule of thirds etc...anyone else seen it and thought the same?

It was good visually, me and my friend watched it with a box of wine and laughed all the way through it, childish I know. :D

I saw it at the cinema last year, and it's certainly von Trier's most attractive looking film, shotwise. Not really a contest, mind, given the hand held qualities of other films like Breaking The Waves and Idioterne. That opening scene is beautiful and the accompanying music creates a harmony between them.

I don't think it's so much of a scary film although it definitely does something different with the horror movie model, and in a time of horror spoofs and torture porn franchises, it breathes new life to the genre. Von Trier's no stranger to horror, as his TV show, Riget, featured many elements of such, and is probably what prompted the unnecessary remake as Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital, but Antichrist worked its levels of comedy and horror seamlessly together so as you were never quite sure what was shock and what was funny.

This reminds me I must order the DVD.

Agreed its beautiful but probably my least favorite of his movies. Where as you get emotionally attached to the main characters in Breaking the waves, dogville and dancer in the dark, I didnt feel it with this one. Looking forward to Melancholia.:)
