Hi All;
My digital photos on my computer are all placed into folders, each folder named appropriately such as People, Animals,
Black & White, Nature, Sky's, & Landscapes. and have now moved them all into another folder named Images of 2006-07which are all backed up on an extenal hard drive with plenty of space.

I am now starting the new folders named as above for 2008.
Does this sound ok?.
Is there a better way? if so I am open to any ideas?.

Edit;, I should mention, I have PhotoshopCS2, but not quite converse with it all.

Thanks...

consider a digital asset management program
http://picasa.google.com is free
there are other which you can buy. You still have you folder structure, ie year and subject, but it will be much easier to locate photo as the program knows where each photo is. You need to spend a bit of time to tag them and add captions and keywords, but if you have a few it will be worth it in the long run.
PS Elements I believe has a cataloging part with it as well.

Its as good a system as any. The only thing i would worry about is trying to remember what year you went somewhere that you want to dig the photo's out for.

I do a similar thing, i have a folder for events, people, animals, still life etc. If i go somewhere on multiple occasions then pop the different occasions in sub folders.

Just do what works for you, and stick with it.

Thanks for the replies, I think i am some where on the right lines, but feel i need to add some more details to each folder, now going to look at the web site now natjag,

Regards
