I copied a 16gig file across to mates USB stick yesterday but it was taking bloody ages to do it. After about 8gig I thought I would cancel and delete it and just move the file across as I had it in my head for some reason that it would be quicker. It even took about 20 minutes to delete the 8 gig from the stick, and still took at least an hour to move it, seems a bit odd to me. My system is USB2 and my mate told me his stick was also USB2. Now my reckoning would be roughly.
USB 1.1 should take 1hour 40 mins to copy
USB stick or USB port is USB 2.0 should take 2 mins to copy
USB stick or USB port is USB 3.0 should take 22 seconds to copy
System. Intel Core Extreme CPU-X9650@3.00GHz
8GB Ram
Win 7
Is there anything I can check to see what might be causing this to run slow? The only thing I can think of but not sure if it would make a difference is that my mates stick is 64gig none branded one which he paid £15 brand new
Cheers for any help.
