Hi, I have been approached by a magazine who want to do a feature on me and my photographs , they asked me for 10/12 images with a brief description etc., of which they want me to send over to them, I did ask if they could tell me what size to send them at and the reply I got was 300dpi,i have asked them again to advice on the file size, but no reply as to date ,could anyone please advice as to what size and dimensions I should send at in order to keep quality and best for them,i have photoshop cs5 any help would be appreciated as I would like to send all the images to them in one. Thanks

I just asked my better half for you who designs magazines, she said that she always asks for A4 sized images but it really depends on what they want to use the images for.

I think that's 2480 X 3508 pixels at 300 dpi and she normally asks for jpeg format.

I just thought they probably just said 300 dpi in case you sent a 72 dpi image so they don't have to re sample and mess around with ratios to make sure it looks the same when they change it to print quality.

I'm sure their graphic designers will resize what ever you send so maybe worth sending a full size jpeg at 300 dpi.

If your unsure on the dpi on cs 5.5 its images --> image size to check.

DPI is utterly meaningless when it comes to file sizes. It's a measure of print quality.

For editorial I'd normally send at 3500px longest side at 80% in Lightroom or 9 in Photoshop.
Depending on the contents of the image, that should give you a file size of 1.5-3Mb which should be fine for a full page in a glossy. If they need it as a two page spread, they can always let you know.

Edit:

Jpeg with sRGB.

Would they allow you to upload the files to dropbox or similar and send them a link rather than emailing each file individually?
