file recovery

anyone know of a good file recovery program that will recover raw files from a hard disk?

If someone can confirm Rescue Pro from SanDisk works for this I have a legit copy you can have (I've just bought 3 SanDisk Extreme IIIs and a copy was bundled with each one).

It may only work on Memory Cards :shrug:

EDIT - Just checked and it recognises the HDD as a drive but pops up a warning that it's not designed to work with HDDs but it does then step on to the next step saying am I sure I want to continue. Perhaps someone with experience can confirm whether it works or not?

Yes it works fine on hard drives.

Can't you make a disk image file and send that via http://www.podmailing.com/ (FREE, unlimited size file transfer)?

Saves you a disk, packaging, a stamp, and a trip to the mail box, and it is much, much faster where you want it...

You would only need Trip's email address.

And Trip would get it right where he/she needs it: in his/her computer. No need to wait for the mail, checking the mail box a couple times, and hassling with a physical disk.

thanks for the replies, i tried rescue pro but its retrieving absolutely everything and renaming it all, this makes it almost impossible to find what i need to find.

i found some programs which are a bit more customizable but none of them recognize raw files so wont retrieve them.:bang:

Found one.

Its called Softperfect file recovery and its excellent

It recovered all 900 raw files and 1500 Jpegs that i accidentaly deleted and, for some reason, skipped the recycle bin completely:bonk:
