Hi All,

I'm Tom and I've just joined TP - Hello!

I caught the bug a year or so ago and have really enjoyed improving my skills over the last 12 months.
I've been to a couple of meetups, will go on a walks to take photos and I've hired some lights and a lens to do some product shots for my other half's jewellery company.

This summer I've been invited by a friend to help photograph quite a major festival.
Our brief is to capture people, atmosphere, environment and interstitial shots, rather than the music and artists.

I'm also pretty tall (6'5") so getting above crowds or spotting far of action is made much easier!

I'd be grateful for any tips you could offer on two subjects - Gear and Inspiration

Gear
I have a D7k with 18-55mm, 55-200mm and 50mm.
I've got about £200 squirreled away to put towards something (or things) for this gig.
I borrowed a friend's Sigma 10-20mm last year and had a lot of fun with it - tempted to get myself a Tokina 11-16 for this festival.
I've seen them second hand for just over £200.

Would this be a sensible investment to buy or would you suggest spending it on hire of a wide lens, as well as something like the 70-200mm 2.8?
Is it even worth getting different lenses or would I be better off saving/spending my money for something else?
Also open to left-field suggestions - Is it worth selling the 18-55 and 55-200, and use the money towards the 18-200?

Inspiration
There are lots examples stage and music shots, I've found it harder to find inspiration for the sort of shots I'm tasked with taking.
Has anyone got any link, names, thoughts, suggestions etc?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Tom
