Felt out of place tonight....

I used to worry all the time about taking photos when other people are around. I used to see things I wanted to photograph, and I'd be put off incase people were watching, only to really regret it when I got back home and had nothing decent in my camera. I'm not so bothered at all now, if it means lying down, getting underneath something, standing in a tree, the middle of a river etc, then I will, and people I know have taken photos of me doing these things because they think it's funny :D

I'm never put off by other photographers either, if I'm in a place where there are lots of other photographers then I'm there for the same reason they are.

So as other people have said, just get out there, and take lots of pics, and have fun :thumbs:
 
As far as shooting when alot of other togs are about ...:eek:

DONT WORRY.. at the end of the day they might have a big camera and big white lens but the shots could all be blurred or badly composed or just plain cr@p

i love it when i have my ps and there are togs about with all the big toys . i look over and think i hope they have there settings right and i would love to see there shot next to mine.

so dont worry ;)

As others have said. It's only natural to feel like you stick out when your holding a camera that is bigger than most people are used to seeing. You just have to realise that most people aren't judging you or thinking you are a weirdo/terrorist (which the government does seem to think). They are probabally just wondering what your taking pictures of and why your interested in them. Then theres the other people that are really interested in the gear and are a bit of a technophile. Just humour them but don't let them hold you back from doing what your trying to do.

Street photography can be quite scary indeed. I did some a month or so ago for a project at university. I was only taking pictures at a low level of peoples shoes but the amount of people that got very defensive and in one case even agressive. You just have to stand your ground without being arrogant or rude and show that you have a genuine reason for being there.

Hope you can develop your confidence soon enough. It helps a heap!

do what I do just get it out n use it ....the camera I have only been given one load of abuse and thats when I was trying to capture a full moon over rooftops but when I and the missus are out anywhere we both have our cameras out ready and we do use em ANYWHERE
 
Well i went out yestarday again to the same spot as i was wanting to try and get some nice shots.

This time i did go for it still felt daft as hell but i stuck with it, BUT it was not what i was looking for to be honest it looked good at the time but the bad weather came flooding in and messed the sky up for the lighting i was wanting.

But hey i did try and as you all say it should get better as i have now went beyond my comfort zone.
