I've been looking at getting a Feisol 3342 Rapid, but unfortunately they only have it in the non-rapid version.

The Feisol 3301 is available in the rapid version and seems to have almost the same specs.

Has anyone used either of these? Mainly wondering about the 3301.

I'll be using a Nikon D300s with a Sigma 120-300 2.8 + 1.4 TC on it.

Cheers for any info.

I have recently bought CT-3342 Rapid version and use it with RRS Ballhead. Very light and strong setup for my D3 and primes, highly recommend it for the price...

I had an older Gitzo without anti leg rotation and it was bit of a pain, had to do/undo the legs in order and even then it wasn't foolproof

Got a more modern one now with ALR and it is considerably easier to erect, from experience I reckon it would be well worth waiting for the rapid version

How recently did you get it?

Did you buy it from the UK stockist?

Yeah definitely decided on the rapid system.

I've been in touch with the UK distributor and they won't have any more rapid versions until the end of Feb. Is it worth waiting or does anyone know of any alternatives around the same price?

I also have a 3342 (with the normal legs). I am very happy with it as an occasional tripod user. I don't miss the anti-rotate feature as I am pretty slow and methodical so do and undo the legs in the right order for this not to be an issue. I guess if you want to be nimble it might be worth the extra.

Have you tried the German-EU (?) distributor? They might be able to help and you have no import duties to worry about.
