Feeling overwhelmed by my Canon 400D.

all u need are some interesting subjects, maybe a tripod too. and maybe be at the right place at the right time.

as said jackbauer

re your other post:- second shots good, first is a bit flat but PPing will sort that out

dont get despondent how long have you had the camera?, I had that feeling when I first got my, going from a pentax K1000 film to digital, its a different ball game, I love my camera now

Thanks for that. I have to admit I have only had the camera for 3 days. Today was my first real use of the camera.

Problem with train pic: Aperture too large, shutter speed too slow for the focal length. You probably slected that combination because it was dark. Basic composition is OK but you needed to get either one point sharp or the whole thing sharp.

In this situation I would have used Av, selected f8.0 or f9.0 (which is two stops smaller than your f4.0), so the SS would drop to about 0.2sec. Then find somewhere the sit the camera - never easy to do. You could bump up the ISO, but you might struggle. There really is no substitute for some kind of camera support.
