Feedback on Lightroom processing

Hi Guys,

Like many i'd imagine i've fallen into a 'style' of processing that i apply to most of my images via lightroom without giving it a second thought. I wondered if others might be able to offer some gentle critique of what i could possible do differently / better ? I tend to auto the image in LR then add some contrast, sharpening, contrast, clarity and see how it looks from there.

This image was captured in a corridor of pink blossoms so quite shady even with some ocf from the side. Had to lift the shadows a bit

Appreciate the background is a bit busy but he wanted this effect which i dont mind tbh. The blossoms stopped at the left side which hindered my framing a touch.

You say he wanted the background effect so presumably he is happy with the shot.
The only thing I would be tempted to do/try is to open the image in PS, select the sculpture and boost the contrast to make it "pop" a bit more.

The auto fix in Lightroom never works well.

If you used o.c.f why did you need to boost the shadows so much?

Surely you just exposed for the background and lit the subject with the flash? Where did you position the flash the image is very flat and lacks depth, like you have used an onboard flash rather than off camera? Did you use TTL rather than manual? It has that flash blasted look.

There should have been no need to mess with the shadows so much.

In terms of the actual final image, I don't personally like the composition, the way he is staring at the sculpture seems odd to me in terms of the processing there are some little things like the burned areas and the distracting blue spot on the right hand side that you could fix in post.
