Just made another purchase from MPB. Bought an EX580 MKI flashgun from them. I like the MkI and I have one already and adapted it for use with pocketwizards and knowing how easy that is to do I thought it was about time I added a second.
Two reasons for that. One is in the spirit of heeding my own advice to have backup for everything when shooting weddings. I do have a couple of Vivitars so I've never been operating with a single flash but there is no doubt that a vivitar on manual is not going to do the same job for me as my EX580 so it was time I sorted that. I can still use the vivitars for shooting locations with optical slaves so they are certainly not going to become completely obsolete.
The other reason is that I have the little ST-E2 transmitter and with two Canon flashes I can ratio them really easily off the ST-E2. I can see the use for that if I ever manage to get round to doing a couple of shoots I have in mind for later in the year.
So MPB had a couple of them at very reasonable prices, i.e. Half what an EX580 II retails for!
Duly purchased, delivered and checked. It's absolutely mint and in better nick than mine after I dropped it on a pavement shooting a wedding in Jersey last year.
A big thanks once more to MPB.
