Yes
I was, but didn't want to install it either as too many people are having problems with Win 10.

Then I found this GWX Control Panel from the Ultimate Outsider: http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/2015/08/using-gwx-stopper-to-permanently-remove.html

GWX Stopper, recommended by the good people at Windows Secrets, is a free program that gets rid of the software and nag screen, and stops it from automatically updating the operating system.

The program is quick and simple to use, and also showed that I had 5.6GB of Win 10 update files on my machine, which it gave me the option to delete (which I did).

Follow the instructions, restart the pc, nag screen gone and 5.6GB of storage freed up for use.

That'll do for me, Result!

HTH.

You can turn it off yourself without relying on other software to do it for you.

Just load the registry editor and

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx
Create a new REG_DWORD registry value called: DisableGwx
Give it a value of: 1

Reboot and it has gone.

Does it also get rid of the installation files?

You then need to find the installation files and delete the, and not everyone is happy to (or should risk) editing the registry.

The software is simple and can be used by anyone, and as it was recommended by the guys at Windows Secrets, I felt it was a good option.

Downloaded and done, in half the time it would have taken to fart about in the registry. Cheers for that Dave (y)

Glad it helped Alan, must arrange a quarry visit soon!
