Yes
I'm totally fed up already with watching, reading and hearing about the recession. I'm not saying we should all bury our head in the sand but i do think some of the "down turn" is brought on by our attitude and the press/media.

I work at Toyota and we are facing a difficult year BUT I want people to shout about the good things happening in thier life. A few years ago the world dropped out my bottom when my wife of 16 years called it a day and left. Now as the new year approches i am only a few months away from marrying the new love of my life and life is a thousand times better than it was in the aftermath of my separation.

WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO BE HAPPY ABOUT? Lets all shout about the positive things happening in the world or your life.

I sincerley hope we all weather this recession with little long term effect and lets all remember there are good things happening as well.

Oh and my other positive thing today is Tesco delivered one extra doughnut in a bag of five....

Lets hear it for doughnuts !

i get that in bacon quite often :D:D get 5 instead of 4 it fills out the butty nicily

and yes i have 5 bits of bacon on one butty :D:D

Good thread Notts Dave and good luck and congratulations for 2009. I entirely agree with you regarding the media - to a certain extent they have talked us into this recession. I've been banging on about this for months as that is all we have heard for most of the year so what happens? People get worried, stop spending money, the economy and manufacturing slow down all because of media hype and Hey Presto we have a self fulfilling prophecy, and not just in this country.

Anyway, enough already!

My positive things in no particular order:

  • My family are fit and healthy.
  • I finish work today for two weeks which will be the longest break I have had this year. :woot:
  • It's Christmas
  • Santa is bringing me an iPhone. :woot:
  • iMac on the way after Christmas after receiving a shed load of vouchers from work. :woot:
  • It's my sons 13th birthday tomorrow and he was very ill when he was born prematurely weighing little more than a bag of sugar and we weren't sure if would make Christmas.
  • There is a gentleman's measure of Drambuie with my name on it at 5 o'clock when I finish.

Will that do?

:D

Good start.

I too finish today for two weeks (3am can not come quick enough). "She" is at work next week so i'm off out brefore sun rise on monday for a long over due camera day.

This has reminded me of Cee-Jay who shares the same birthday as my son, I just hope he makes it through Christmas and I cannot begin to imagine what Anne-Marie is going though.

It certainly puts everything into perspective which makes my first point more meaningful.

Good idea :D

  • I'm married to my soul mate
  • My family is healthy
  • I have a kitten curled up on my boobies purring away
  • It's Christmas
  • Payday is the 23rd so I can finally start my Christmas shopping :$
  • I have a roof over my head
  • I have food
  • I have warmth (well once I put two blankets on me )
  • IT'S CHRISTMAS
  • A new year full of change is just around the corner
  • IT'S CHRISTMAS:D:D

Let's party! :woot:

I've decided that with the interest rate being cut so drastically, there's s*d all point in having anything in the bank, so later this afternoon I am going to Jessops to collect a D700 with a 24-120 on the front. I shall be checking the seals on the box before I hand over my card. Looking forward to instant(ish) results from my superwide and fisheye - I'm keeping the D200 for the crop factor (yes, I know I could crop the D700 images but the D200 has more pixies withing the Dx area!) and the D70 as a backup.

I bet you are Flash! You can go down for people trafficking you know! ... and a man of the cloth as well!

Good News - It is not raining so I can finish exercising the dogs and put all the birds to bed in the dry :)

I just misread what you typed and quickly scrolled up thinking 'Oh please don't tell me I typed that?!'

TBH its not effected me in the slightest really!

Would this be one of Ashers' Cannon 400D shots?

/pfffffft

Hahahahahaha

Well, I have a lovely bloke, a lovely house, 2 gorgeous kittahs and a fish. I am very, very happy and content right now :)

2009 is gonna be a good one :)

Good post, Dave.

2008 has been a strange year. I've lost my father this year but the rest of the family is fit and healthy.

My daughter split from her partner - but he was an Aston Villa supporter so that comes under the good news column ;)

I'm typing this on my new 24" imac 3.06ghz with extra memory goodness. And I've recently had a new motor :woot:

And 2009 promises to be a stonking year in the Blue household. Both my businesses do well when times are bad - so to speak. And both have taken off in the last four months in a way that even I never expected. The present Mrs Blue is talking of retiring early from her job so she can help me. I now find I can't decline her offer any more as I'm working stoopid hours at the mo.

No doom and gloom here. The only problem is being constrained to 24 hours in any one day.

You're not a debt collector by any chance? :D

As for me? After a truly rubbish month last month (crashed my car, then the brand new 32" LCD telly packed in and I proceeded to catch the mother of all colds - even though I rarely get ill), this month my luck took a turn for the better as I've found out I've been overpaying on my mortgage. So, a nice little cashback bonus is winging it's way to me - enough to completely clear my overdraft and start my financies afresh.
And I've found out that I'm £240 in credit with British Gas on gas alone - but the theiving gits that is BG is not passing that money back to me without playing silly beggers - but I think that's another topic for another day.
Still, that'll be a good way to start 2009 with a resolution to keep my financies in check

and if its that bad i will come around and cheer u up :D now do u feel happy
