Hopefully selling some Canon FD lenses. How do you lock the aperture blades fully open to take a photo through the glass ?
Thanks

I don't think you can " Lock " it open , Just open the lens by turning the aperture ring to give the maximum opening.

If no one has an answer, you can pop the back open on the camera and go into bulb mode. That's what I do.

is usually a small lever on the back of the lens where it mounts to the camera that can be manually pushed to open the aperture. It's usually sprung,……….
Both levers immobile - sorry

Depends what flavour of FD lens, there are at least 2 different ways of locking the aperture open and IIRC both require the breach lock ring to be unlocked first. Post up a picture of the rear of the lens

Hi. It’s FDn 50/1.8 - no lock ring. Just got a good image using the “bulb” setting. ^^^ Thanks

FDn lenses are a bit fiddly to unlock the aperture control but sounds like you have a workaround.

Some of the fifties I have there is a tab on the back that you can flip to manual. But you would know if you had that. From what I can recall the aperture on the others will only work once mounted to the camera.

The new FDN lenses are the problem, off camera, to get full aperture.....a solution I haven't tried but read somewhere is to use the Canon back cap and cut a large hole so when you mount the cap onto the lens you can then operate the aperture lever, but you could ruin a cap if it doesn't work :(o_O

Thanks. I tried the suggested method of setting the shutter to BULB and leaving the back plate open. Works fine.

Yes. - would have been the best way. - But could not see a way to open the blades
