Strange that nothing came up in the search, I thought the topic ( no pun intended ) of sweets would have been talked about before, but seems not. Or has it?

Just been munching my favourite sweets of the moment, and they are MAOAM chewy sweets the MAOmix pack. They are lovely, or at least I thinks so, and so do the grand kids. Never heard of these sweets before, only bought them when I was asked to buy them for some one, I tried one and I was hooked. I bought a big pack today, and the sales woman who knows me, said I take it the grand kids are up. I said they may be up at some point, but if they are not I am sure someone will eat them . Before some smart a**** chimes in, no intention of eating the kids, not even the Jelly Babies ;)

Me and the missus just drifted off into the past, talking about our favourite sweets. We really do not like the variety of the sweets today, with the exception of the MAOAM sweets that is..

they do several variations now, mixing fruit flavourings (I've edited that as I know someone will weight in with "FRUIT IN A SWEET!?") and levels of sweetness; the explosions are just too much though

Clarnico mint creams, Tiffin bars, Coffee creams, chocolate raisins, sarsaparilla tablets...........

We have a `traditional` sweet shop in town, so can get most things that are produced. Funnily enough I have a bag of Rainbow crystals & a bag of American cream soda + 2 of those Bassets soft liquorice sticks, at the side of my desk as we speak/type.

Fruitella quite closely resemble the old Opal Fruits but with more 'exotic' flavours.

Edit: They became 'Starburst' I think.

Used to love Opal Fruits, not sure if they changed the recipe, but found them a little waxy in later years :(

Visited my sister in Plymouth a few years ago, was a nice surprise to find an old fashioned sweet shop, with long forgotten sweets, in those big glass jars you do not see any more. Shame my sister lives so far away :(

Opal Mints were my favourite. They then became pacers then they disappeared. We did find some spearmint chews in Poundland recently which tasted similar.

Do like MAOAMs

Yes, the Opal Fruits became Starburst but I don't think they taste the same as the originals.

My favourite item in the pack, pity as there is not many of these within the pack..:)

What started life known as 'Unclaimed Babies' are my favourite except 'unclaimed' is now 'Jelly'!
Love jelly babies.

Haribo tangfastic, and of course the classic, Liquorice Allsorts

Not tried the pinballs but the only time I have them is when someone brings them in to work and I've never been quick enough. ;)
Pretty scrumptious they are, very zingy and tangy :D

My 20 yr old son is mad about Moam 'stripes' I think they are. I'm at an age where I feel guilty if I eat any at all, they go straight on to my waistline it seems!

Ex Lax dont eat it your self but hand it around like chocolate. Then wait for the fun to start.

Salted liquorice yum yum and something called black/white it is like a powdered liquorice.

Aztec Bars, from Cadburys? No, I don't remember them. I have concluded recently though that Cadbury makes me fart a lot though.

Anyone remember "Aztec" bars? I've not seen one for probably 40 years but I can still recall the taste at will.
I think I vaguely remember them, can't recall having ever tried them

They were delicious. Then taken off-sale to then re-appear as Aztec 2000 - horrible.

Word around Cadbury's was that a whole filing cabinet of 'recipes' on paper from way back were chucked away by mistake. The lost recipes included the "Lime Barrel" from the Milk Tray selection.

As for favourite 'sweet' - mine was American Hard Gums.... Diabetes confined 'sweets' to memoryfor me.

Omg pacers... Yes!

As a kid...flying saucers.

Noooo. I loved the lime barrel!

Massive sized Dairy Milk Bar is my Missus's favourite, got it in the fridge nicely chilled for me. Just broken a few pieces of for her, perfect way to keep her quiet. I think she may even prefer it than you know what

Not a chocolate fan, but even less so out of the fridge. :(

The Missus loves Cadburys Chocolate warm and soft, Cadburys Buttons are her favourite though...I find the Chocolate far too sweet to be honest.

Since Kraft has taken over Cadburys the tast of Cadbury's Vegelate has become even worse.

Disgusting stuff.

Lindt 81% is the 'bees knees' of chocolate not Kraft's 19% Vegelate birdy droppings....

Why can't manufacturers leave things the way they are? Always ruining our favourite treats

Rugby commentator Bill Mclarens favourites Hawick Balls do it for me. No good if you don't like mint sweets though! As for chocolate its Cadbury's Dairy Milk for me.

Cadbury Snack Shortcake biscuits, more addictive than crack cocaine or Cadbury Fingers

Worst sweets ever, has to be those Coal bottle jellies, should never have been invented

Call it vegelate all you like if it makes you feel better.
It's still chocolate.
If you dislike it, don't eat it :)

Good old Maynard wine gums for me used to like raspberry ruffles but they changed the recipe and I now find them sickly sweet. Cannot eat chocolate ( mood swings) but find Hersey bars OK but hard to get.

Thankfully!

Skittles.

I have to eat a whole "family size" packet in one go.

Yes and don't they make them for small families?
More on the Hersey bar comment?
