Thought it would be interesting to see what people consider their top three photography books?

Christmas is still two months away but people are already rather unnervingly starting their christmas shopping. although I tend to pepper my x-mas list with books as a cheaper option for friends and relatives who can't afford to buy me ridiculous camera gear I'm a bit short on ideas this year, so go for it. Think of it as desert island discs but for photo books.

I'm looking for either books of photos or theory books, not so much 'how to HDR' type teaching books although you can list those as well if you really want.

To get the ball rolling my three are

1) Ways of Seeing - John Berger

2) Photomontage - Dawn Ades

3) Polaroids by Andrei Tarkovsky

I quite like the McNally books, really like The genius of photography by gerry badger (from the bbc series)

I have quite a long reading list right now but I will give a few that are quite general rather than specific genre.

Art and Photography - David Campany
Camera Lucida - Barthes
Light Matters - Vicki Goldberg
The Pleasure of Good Photographs - Gerry Badger
The Photograph as Contemporary Art - Charlotte Cotton
The Nature of Photographs - Stephen Shore
Anything by Sontag, Susan Bright or David Campany.

Favourite writers right now would be Annette Kuhn, Dr Stuart Hall & Okwui Enwezor.

 for Berger.
