Just watching the Two Ronnies 'four candles' clip on the other thread and it started me thinking about my favourite comedy moments. The 'four candles' sketch is definitely one of them, and also from the Two Ronnies, the 'opticians' one where neither of them can see anything, the funniest part being where Corbett starts reading the eye charts and then reads a hat-stand as the letter 'I' and a peice of furniture as the letter 'H'!

Another favourite is the 'breakfast stripper' sketck from Morecombe & Wise, and on the comedy 'The Office' where David Brent stands up from behind his desk wearing the Emu outfit! :D

So, which are your favourites?

oh wow...all of them are my favourite! love the ending of the opticians sketch when they swap glasses and both can see perfectly!

Billy Connolly and Prescription Windscreens for his father :) also the big slipper joke;)

The chandelier in Only fools and horses

hmmmmm ssoooo many to think about!!

I suppose just about anything from Fawlty Towers (most especially Basil beating his car with a branch)
The Two Ronnies, same again really, the Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town
Life of Brian and Meaning of Life, pick a sketch!
Morecombe and Wise in bed, ambulance siren heard in teh background, and Eric says 'He wont sell many going at that speed'

most favourite...hmmmmm....tough one

how about Dads Army, when they capture the German, and the German says 'Vot is your name!' and Mainwaring says 'Dont tell him Pike!' comedy gold

Or when Delboy falls through the bar!

I think its a close call between that and the Fork 'andles.

I've got all episodes of Only Fools and Horses, and a shed load of Two Ronnies on DVD that I've collected throughout the years, always great for a quick pickmeup.

I remember when I worked for the beeb, I was sent on an induction course in London, which included a tour round Television Studios.

I remember the guy telling us, studio 4 or whatever, as we were stood in the gallery upstairs, looking down on a new set for a different show, that it was this studio that they filmed Only Fools and Horses in.
OK, totally different set, etc etc and OFaH had long gone, but I couldn't help but think in awe "wow, that's where Delboy fell through the bar"...That was my starstruck moment of the tour :D

Im a huge comedy fan and ive got too many moments to list, my top few are....

Monty Python - Dead Parrot.
Monty Python - Four Yorkshiremen.
Only Fools and Horses - Del Falls Thru Bar in Nightclub.
Max and Paddy Road to Nowhere - (in jail) Paddy hits guy in face with dinner try.

everything the 2 ronnies and morecombe and wise did was pure comedy genius.

billy connolly, telling of his childhood christmas' with a morth organ and a torch.

Dads army was a classic series.

It's far too hard to pick just one fave moment.

Dave Allen

Father Ted

another 2 very funny things

Vic reeves.....in the old days when he performed the BIG night out tour, and then the smell of reeves and mortimer.

Some fave sketches..... mulligan and o'hare, are you looking at my bra?, and many many more

Fast show was good on TV, but fantastic live!

and who could forget BOTTOM,!!!!

Ahhh VR Big Night Out.

actually Marcel.......you could be our very own LES

you got some biro's?

i'm sure I can get my hands on some chives to keep you in line

Was gonna say the breakfast stripper thing from Morecambe and Wise, but they did so many classic sketches it's hard to pick just one or two. The piano concerto where Andre Previn is conducting the orchestra and Eric Morecambe is 'playing' the piano is pure genius... Previn: "You're not playing the right notes" Morecambe: "Ah, I'm playing ALL the right notes... but not necessarily in the right order"!

Tommy Cooper was another great - watching his stuff always has me creased up

Almost any Monty Python and Derek & Clive.

No, matey, these are things that are always being re-run. It's just that nothing else comes close... IMHO

(EDIT - Other than some of the 'tests' that the Top Gear boys go through - last week's with the caravan holiday was awesome! The Winter Olympics special was inspired as well!)

Monty Pythons 'Life of Brian' from start to finish.

What made it even funnier when it was first released was the frenzy of objections to it.

That certainly came to mind for me too..:)

Who's on first has to be one of my favourites, it's been done many times since but never bettered.

I used to love watching Reggie Perrin, every time he thought of his mother in law he pictured a hippo.
Loved the Two Ronnies used to have a tape of all the songs they performed in their shows pure class.
Spike Milligan's shows, Alan Partridge and his excruciatingly embarrasing moments, One Foot in the Grave, Some Mothers Do Have 'em.
Just Good Friends with Vince and Penny my favourite from that is Vince telling very prim Penny (who'd never swear) that he'd tried accupuncture to
give up smoking
Penny : I don't like needles didn't it hurt
Vince : Never felt a thing
Penny : Didn't you feel a prick?
Vince : Well I did feel a bit foolish.

Derek & Clive.......Anything Pete and Dud came up with under that guise always resulted in 'stress incontinance' Alas, can't repeat any here :(

'I knew a girl from Amsterdam,
she stuffed her **** up full of clams,
she was a very ****ing stupid dutch *****.

(up a key)

She had lobsters up her ****,
she was ******* working class,
she
was
a

dutch

*****'

See? the swear filter ruins it!

Well all this week I've been watching Series 3 of the Good Life with Felicity Kendall :naughty:

2 episodes into series 4 now....and by the time I get through this series and the 2 specials, I'll be ready to watch Series 1 again :D

Billy Connely sketch with the incontinence trousers at the disco or Del Boy in the bar.
