I don't bake...but I'm pm-ing you my address for a batch of those bad boys!!

Stop it you two...just stop it!! :runaway:

Since my auntie was talking about fresh hot doughnuts the other day I've be weighing up my desire for some vs my motivation for trying to cook some, I have all the ingredients but not quite all the motivation just yet

I am more a savory person but I do go weak for cream donut fingers with ham

Cheese and ham scones, really nice with red peppers in too. hard to get the balance right, you need a truckload of cheese to actually make them cheesy but when a good one comes out the oven they're lovely. I'm a very savoury man, me, so prefer these over almost any sweet treat.

ohhh thinking now cheese tarts,,,, i love cheese tarts.. not the post photo but taste blooming good

Mrs Nod has baked a batch of muffin sized Belgian cakes (mincemeat) from a Cranks recipe. Wonder how many I could scarf down before she realises what I'm up to...

Well, she's out in the sunshine so might not notice...

However, if I'm good (it has been known!) I'll get the doled out as singles for a few days which will prolong the pleasure! (They're very easy to make so I could do myself a secret batch next time she's teaching in the evening!)

Wish I'd taken a pic of it but I made Delia's squidgy chocolate cake a fortnight ago. I felt the entire thing would be too bitter so added some morello glace cherries in the cream layer which lifted the taste of the whole thing. Next time I make it, I'll add a layer of jam and turn it in to some sort of blackforest gateaux.

Indeed this sounds good to me.......I wish you all the best in this endeavor!

In that case you are going to have to make it again then...;)

You asked here it is..

These are squidgy chocolate brownie-like cookies, combining the best of both worlds! They also happen to be dairy free.
Ready in 32 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 72
• 85g best-quality cocoa powder
• 400g caster sugar
• 125ml vegetable oil
• 4 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 250g plain flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 60g icing sugar

Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 12 mins
1.
In a medium bowl, mix together cocoa, caster sugar and vegetable oil. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the cocoa mixture. Cover dough, and chill for at least 4 hours.
2.
Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas mark 4. Line baking trays with parchment. Roll dough into 2.5cm balls. Coat each ball in icing sugar before placing onto prepared trays.
3.
Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Let stand on the baking tray for a minute before transferring to wire racks to cool.

And yes do leave overnight....
