Favourite 80's Music Single

This is going off at at tangent.....I will now include A Photograph of You by Flock of Seagulls if it hasn't already been included in this thread.

Bette Davis Eyes ... Kim Carnes. :D

Im sure she sang "Knows how to make a crow blush"! :D

We should have a new thread for mis-heard lines of songs!

In fact Im off to make that thread right now!!

(Pro blush)
I loved that song but always cringed at that line.

I think I'm gonna have to make an 80's compilation CD now - some corkers on here.

Also remember:
The Specials - Ghost Town
The Lambrettas - Poison Ivy
The Vapours - Turning Japanese (never understood the lyrics until I was much older )
John Lennon - Woman

and what would 80's music be without all the cheesy stuff like Agadoo and the Birdy song

Can't think of many at the moment, but 80's were by far the best.
I was born in 1988, but i know most 80's songs.

The Scorpions - Wind of change
Marillion - Kayleigh
Ben E King - Stand by me (re-release 1986)
The Pogues - Fairytale of new york

80's power ballads were amazing!

woops! just re-read the first post! didnt realise it was for a wedding!

More 80s, will try and keep them wedding themed.

Depeche Mode - All I Ever Needed
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power Of Love

That actually won one of the "Best 80s Record" polls in something like Rolling Stone once. A pretty good choice too, just beware of lesser songs with the same title: Rush, Lewis - I am thinking of you.

Flying Lizards - Money (That's What I Want)
It Bites - Calling All The Heroes
Kajagoogoo - Too Shy
XTC - Senses Working Overtime
The Fall - There's A Ghost In My House
Proclaimers - I Would Walk 500 Miles
Robin Beck - First Time
Aztec Camera - Somwhere In My Heart
Shakin' Stevens - Oh Julie
Kelly Marie - Feels Like I'm In Love
Passions - I'm In Love With A German Film Star
Level 42 - Lessons In Love
Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody

I will be disappointed if I do not see most of this thread on our last.fm chart for this week, though I am doing my part to make it happen.

Michael.

There has been some great selections so far (and some damn crap ones too)

Will you all stop saying how you were on 11 in 1989 as I'd been working for 13 years by then :(

Anyway a few more to add on the list.

Laurie Anderson - O Superman
Rickie Lee Jones - Chuck E's In Love (1979 but close enough)
Alannah Myles - Black Velvet
Transvision Vamp- I Want Your Love
Anything by the queen of rock Pat Benatar

Some real classics mentioned above, though cant believe that no one has mentioned:

Animal Magnet - Welcome to the Monkey House

A "Midlands" 80's classic still played every Friday and Saturday night in the clubs here.... :woot:

Thanks for all the input, this will be probably the last time I log-on for quite a few weeks, so see you all soon...a married man !
Honeymoon booked, will surprise you all with a few shots in a few weeks time. Some great advice so far received from TP members :)

Last job tonight is to get the playlist down (with everyones thanks) to 2 hours rather than the 4.5 it currently sits at .... :)

Cheers,
Neil
