Faststone Image Viewer.. Not Right.

I have Faststone Image Viewer and till now its been OK, but all of a sudden the picture quality has dropped and they seem somewhat distorted..

Anyone had similar problems, would it be worth deleting and reloading the program..

It coincided with a Lightroom 3/4 download but that couldn't be it surely.. but several pictures in My Pictures on my computer have gone a bit wonky as well.
I'm lost really..

Any thoughts..
 
From the first time I used Faststone a few years ago I noticed it degraded image quality slightly.
I only ever use it for unimportant stuff when I am on a computer that doesn't have lightroom/photoshop.
 
It's the only program I have for PP as I don't do anything 'fancy' with my pictures and I'm too 'penny-pinching' to pay for it.

Been using FastStone as a CR2 viewer from day one and it's never disappointed me. I'd guess your Lightroom program has affected it in some way.:shrug:
 
I'm using Lightroom 4.2 and CS2 to do my post processing. I use Faststone 4.6 to view images after they have been processed, viewing them singly, and also in sequence so I can check for consistency between images and work out what order to present the images in. I only recently started using Lightroom, with Version 3, and almost immediately upgraded to 4.2. I have just this moment finished processing a day's images which eventually involved almost 80 processed images (insects etc), and this involved a lot of going in and out of Faststone over several days to check and arrange images as the collection grew in size. I haven't noticed anything odd (and I'm fairly particular about the look of my images).

Could you post an example of the oddness you are seeing now? Perhaps that would help pin down what is going on.

EDIT: Is is raw or JPEGs (or both) that are playing up? Is it to do with colours, or geometric distortions (barrel or pin-cusion distortion for example), or contrast/gamma, or, I don't know, noise perhaps? etc etc.

They are Jpeg but I will download a picture to see what you all reckon
