fastish film?

Just got some film deved at boots, and bloody hell, nearly all the shots where very noisy, a few where OK. Also learnt how forgiving print is. The film was Fuji superior 400, shot at 400, date on packet was 2008.7
So probably going to have to shoot rest of it at much lower speed :-(

What 400+ films would you guy recommend? In 35mm size preferably, dont mind if colour or black n white

Poundland agfa vista, push it to 800 or even 1600

T-Max pushes effortlessly past ISO400 - so much so that the developing time doesn't change between ISO400 and ISO800.

All the chromogenic C-41 films are renowned for their wide latitude, so that's also another place to start.

^^ This ^^ works !! however if cross developed in b&w chemicals, you will end up with a lack of contrast ( easily pulled back in PP)

If sent away for C-41 developing, you may well have to pay extra to have it pushed, that's if the lab will offer the service.

I've pushed Tri X to 1600 with usable results although a bit too contrasty for my liking....from what I understand T-Max pushes better ( as FC2 suggests)...I've yet to try it!

Ilford HP5+ also seems to be a popular film to push ...personally I don't like it's grain not even at 400 box speed.

Rollei RPX 400 is a (cheapish as well as fastish)) film I do quite like at box speed .....it will push too, though i haven't yet done so.
