Hi, picked up one of these for a reasonable price and wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

I plan to use a high quality matte paper, but am unsure as to best weight? As 2 sheets are adhered to each other so each leaf will be double thickness, so 170gsm paper becomes 340gsm page leaf.

Hard to find a high quality matte paper in lower weights.

Thanks

I thought Canson's Rag Photographique Duo was a super lightweight (220gsm but feels lighter) matt paper that gives excellent colour reporoduction and nice black & white work too. I did a box of A4s with it and enjoyed it. Didn't get more because I wanted heavier. A lot of the Somerset papers (225gsm) were good but they were quite heavily textured - too much for me, and they're quite stiff (not sure if this is good or bad for your purposes). Get a test pack if you're interested because most of them all come in the same pack. The only sub 200gsm paper I've tested was the Brockingford Inkjet (190gsm) which suffered with yellowy black & whites. Didn't really test much further because I ended up finding my matt paper heaven in the Somerset Photo Satin.

Wish I still had a few Canson sheets left 'cos I'd send them over to you. If you do decide to try, make sure you get the Duo version and not the normal one. "Duo" is the lightweight version of the same paper. That's what I'd recommend if you're binding back to back as I think they could stand it.

Would be interesting to see the Fastbind in action (pics on thread would be fab!). Had to Google it to discover what it was but it looks interesting. Was it expensive?

hi and thanks for reply.

I have done my own printing for a few years now using piezography ink for BW so am familiar with papers, canson being a favourite brand.

Even if using duo a 225gsm sheet would produce a 450gsm page leaf, as max thickness for machine is 3" this would limit amount of page leafs.

Hahnemuhle photo rag is available in 188gsm

Will have a look at Somerset Photo Satin for other projects though.

Here is a video of the F32w which is the full workstation, i just have the base.

As to price, they don't make the F32 anymore, only the larger version. When sold the F32 was nearly £2000 new! I did not pay anywhere near that.
