Morning all,

I am having a (huge) gear consolidation and I was hoping to get some opinions from others that have this equipment.

I shoot sport (and portraits) and that's about it.

I am looking at moving on my fast Nikon primes:
Nikon AFS 105 1.4
Nikon AFS 35 1.4
Nikon AFS 85 1.8

I've found the AF speed of these lenses to be far too slow for use in both sports and portraiture.
I have been using the Canon 85 1.8 and the Canon 135 f2 and found these to have much faster AF speeds and can consequently be used for both sports and portraiture.

My Canon 85 1.8 is starting to give err 01 errors - it's had a hard life - I am looking at replacing it, but was considering the 85 1.4, however, how fast is the AF speed on the 1.4 - is it worth it? I'm happy with the speed of the 1.8 as it is and not sure the 1.4 would be a huge upgrade, considering how close it is to the incredible 135 f2.

On the wider side, I need a (single) fast wider prime, either 24 or 35 from Canon, how are the f/2 compared to the 1.4's? I'm ideally looking for fast AF speed.

Thanks!

Chris

the digital picture has pretty reliable reviews so I would read them carefully about lenses in question

Canon 85 f/1.8 is indeed incredibly fast focusing, but not 100% dependable accuracy wide open, like say 24-70 II or 70-200mm are. What really annoyed me with this and many alike are blue purple fringing which you just don't get with 70-200mm and for what one stop is worth you get a whole lot more with versatility

Subjective but try Canon 35/1.4 L + 135/2
I don't even own anything between these FLs.
