im only 8 weeks into my DSLR but a friend lent/gave me an old 50mm manual focus lens which i adore so much so that i hardly ever use the kit lens (18-55) and was thinking of selling it. BUT is that rash? i was thinking of getting another fixed 24/28 or 85 or possibly a fast 24-70 or similar but not sure if that will leave me wanting for something sub 24?

sorry bit of a muddle but im just starting out
 
probably should have said its a nikon d40 (admittedly that doesn't make a huge difference)
 
keep them all If i'm honest, you will make use of the kit lens. Even if you think you wont - You will!
 
Primes RULE, but it's worth keeping the kit lens for the times when your primes just won't cover the range you need.
 
£25-35 for a kit lens, you may as well keep it, if you ever decide to sell the body you'll get more as a kit
 
ok good point about resale, em thats an interesting picture wack...
