Please help,

I get married in July and for our honeymoon we are going on a cruise in the Med. I just got a Canon 450D camera at Christmas time and I'm very much looking forward to getting lots of great photographs in the many places we will be visiting........however, I have a problem where my camera case is concerned. I already have a camera bag but it just a bog standard bag which is quite bulky. It holds my camera body and two lenses. I have looked at lots of websites but can't seem to see the type of camera bag that I would really like.

I basically want a camera bag that looks more like a nice handbag. I have seen lots of shoulder bags and rucksacks but nothing matches what I'm after. I'm thinking perhaps the best way would be to buy a pouch for the camera and lens bags that will just go in whatever handbag I am using.

This probably sounds stupid but I want days where I can wear a nice summer skirt but not have a big camera bag ruining the look!! Hee Hee

Any suggestions at all???

Sadly L I think you'll have to forego the fashionable look when it comes to camera bags.

They're built for purpose which means they have loads of padding and are made of robust, scuff resistant material, which in your case sadly means they're bulky and pretty bland to look at.

You could alway get one of those discreet and trendy pull-along luggage trolleys and go for that "air hostess" look. Maybe not an option saying that.....sorry

I'm afraid that CopeImages is correct.

Unless you get a normal bag, and just put the camera inside, then there isn't really any option that isn't bulky.

Unless you go for one of the smaller crumplers.

What about getting a crumpler of some form, very nice trendy looking bag that doesnt look like a camera bag!

Surely you can buy a manly looking pack and get your new Husband browbeaten into wearing it for you?:)

No she wont as I've got my own EOS 5d Kit to carry about.... i've got the back pack on and off enough changing my own lenses never mind hers too!!!!

Glad there seems to be a few solutions for her though... I think she will like the last one posted... although quite pricey... anyone any other gems!

I must admit I told her as some of the first posters there would not be a solution as camera bags are built for purpose... and she just would not get what she was after... although it seems I and the first few posters where wrong.

Check out the following

http://www.shootsac.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=1

as used by Jeff Ascough amongst others.

Shootsac wont carry your camera, it's a lens bag for when your actually shooting not carrying round kit.

There is an option though. Go to the billingham page and look right at the bottom... http://www.billingham.co.uk/acatalog/Accessories.html

Get the large insert and slide it in to any bag you like :)

Simple.

Edit: I use one of these day to day http://www.billingham.co.uk/acatalog/Packington.html it looks less like a camera bag than anything else I found. Get my D700+24-70+85+flash in the there no problems, and I've carried my 80-200 in there instead of my 85 before so it can carry the kit.

Sounds to me like you want a Jill-e bag.

Not cheap, but what you are after I think.

I covet the Jill-e bags but sadly I think I'd need one the size of a small hamper which kind of defeats the object

Have a fantastic time both of you :)

The first two replies are nonsense. Take a look here. I have the Hadley original in all blag. Fantastic satchel/camera bag hybrid. Not cheap though, but great quality and they look the business. Removable padding if you don't want to use it for your camera. Pouches, main compartment, padded dividers and not bulky at all. It's great. It's replaced my Lowepro 300.
