Hi, anyone here playing far cry 3 on the playstation? (Or x-box probably)

1] How do you kill the heavies? Ive just come to an outpost that has 2 and cant kill 'em from behind with takedowns and bullets dont seem to damage them even from a sniper rifle.

2] How do you clear an outpost without being detected? Its seems nigh on impossible and I think it will be impossible with the heavies. I thought Id done it on the outpost before having taken them all out with arrows without being seen, but I still ony got 550XP for "no alarms"

3] Where are the best places to use the "death from above/below"? (Apart from "when you're above/below someone!", I mean how?)

4] is it worth getting the knife/multiple/grenade takedowns? are they difficult to execute or does it do it automatically for you?

5] with the red distance marked bow sight, how do you know which cross hair bit to line up? when not using that sight, do you still need to aim high at distance? What sort of distances/how high?

Cheers! Any more thoughts/tips welcome!

Heavies I would kill by sniping them in the back of the neck until you gain a takedown skill for them.

Undetected clearing of an outpost can be via takedowns (if no heavies) or just sitting on a hill and sniping them off on at a time. Isn't always possible. You can usually take out half of them by releasing the caged animal by shooting the cage door.

Death from above just jump onto them and it will automatically take them down. From below press the action key when they are above you.

Never really used the multiple takedowns. Prefer to concentrate on one at a time and drag the body out of sight.

Never got the hang of damn bows. My method was to health /armour up to the max and shoot the creature while it charged me. Could normally survive long enough to get 2 or 3 arrows off.

For sheer fun when clearing an outpost let them keep calling reinforcements until a chopper arrives and take it out with a RPG :)
Oh, and expect frustration on the ink monster part. It just goes on .. and on .. and on

I'm playing it on PC. Best game I've played in a long time!

Heavies are tricky. The first sniper is pretty useless in my opinion. I use the second sniper with a high power scope and silencer. A headshot on a heavy usually takes them down. You can also use explosive arrows, a couple of them usually does the trick!

My strategy for clearing outposts is to tag as many enemies as I can from every angle possible. Then try to find all the alarms. If I can reach one without being seen I'll deactivate it. If not I try to shoot them when no ones about (or they're distracted by the animal I released). Then any survivors are picked off without the others seeing. You can do it by take downs too though.

I never really used death from above but if you're approaching an enemy from the water and they're on the dock it's a stealthy way to get things done!

I sometimes use the chain takedown or if I'm in a noisy mood the grenade takedown is great fun. Easy to do often you'll get a prompt for chain or knife takedowns, I don't think you get one for grenades though.

The bow is a fab weapon, with or without three sight you have to consider drop and time taken to hit. I'd practice with it and see how far you need to aim up for set distances and go with that. Just takes a but if trial and error at first.

I suggest making a separate save file just after the map becomes open and play it as a permadeath (ie if you die it's game over) it's a feat way to keep things fresh!

cheers guys.

didnt realise the 2nd sniper rifle might be powerful enough in the back of the neck on the heavy. Also never thought about using explosive arrows. I guess also, sneaking in, dropping a C4, sneaking out and blasting when they pass might work. Or trying a mine even.

How do you find the alarms in the base? I thought they were supposed to show up on the map but dont seem to.

Managed to get my first undetected clearance last night using silenced sniper from miles away, took 3 or 4 goes as an enemy wandering up the road from behind naffed it up once or twice. There were no heavies in the base either which helped.

With the animal hunts I just use the animal repellant syringe, hunts are a doddle then. Blood Komodo, golden tigers, not a problem.

Good game, was disappointed to see that Im 23% through it already when I checked.
