FAO Instagram users

I like it, but it does raise a few issues about Instagram's T&Cs.

For example; why are the images being hosted on Amazon servers?

Probably because Amazon offer cloud servers - good for traffic spikes and hosting :)

Absolutely - it's on their AWS service, but that's something that Instagram has definitely not mentioned.

It's no biggie for me, as they're just iPhone shots, but it is a bit sharp none the less.

hmm doesnt mention it on their T&C, perhaps bring that up on the instagram forums, when the T&C issue was mentioned they were on it like a shot

It's exactly the same on this site:

http://www.woodshed.co.uk/

WTF?

Edit:

Basically the entire coding for Instagram appears to be publicly available.

In effect that means that all photographs, likes, comments and followers can be viewed on the web by anyone who logs onto one of the websites which have discovered how to access Instagram data.
No password access required, the whole lot is open for anyone to view!

im really surprised that no-one from instagram had replied to that request/

Am I being too cynical if I say that I'm not?

I might get in contact with Glynn Evans.

I've left a message for Glynn. Whether he's able to get back to me or not's another matter.

I've mithered the twitter account.

there has been a reply, they are taking action..

Seen - I was going to post earlier, but was a bit busy! ;)

Ive had an email from followgram, another site where you could see your feeds and everything.

Dear Followgram user,

We have been requested by Instagram to remove access to users photos from this site and refrain from using their API. This unfortunately means that until Instagram releases a public API you will no longer be able to view your profile or photos via this website.

Hopefully Instagram will release their public API shortly so we can restore access to user profiles and photos. In the meantime, keep snapping those Instagram photos and supporting their great service.

Looks like instagram have made the API private now.

Result!!

I've got no objection to sites like Followgram & Woodland, but AFAIC they should be password protected like FB, or users made aware that their content is on open view (like Flickr) and given the option to restrict who sees it.

For anyone who is fussed ... im alexatari on Instagram :)

I've not really got into Instagram....it seemed like you open up your pics to the public to be used royalty free and in any way – not that many would get used of course – but I didn't want to get into that...

Maybe they've changed the terms since it was first released though?
