Fancy straps

I really like my Black Rapid, though it wasn't cheap. The only complaint I have about it is that it's bulky and takes up space in my camera bag...but that's a pretty minor issue relative to the mobility the strap provides and ease of carrying a heavy camera/lens combo. I shot all day at a Renaissance Faire with a D4 and 70-200 VRII without significant fatigue. Had I been using a traditional neck strap it would have been a different story.

I've read a few complaints about the strap working loose from the camera where it's attached on the base plate. I periodically check mine to see that it hasn't worked loose, and have never found it to have loosened even the tiniest bit.

Blackrapid rs5 here..great strap and very comfortable

Black Rapid RS7 handles everything I throw at it inc full 10 hour days at the track, 1d mk4 with the 300 2.8 fitted - no problem.

I have tried other straps over the years and hand on heart - the BR is the one that I always come back to.

I've got the Black Rapid RS Sport and it's one of the best purchases I ever made to carry my gripped D700 and 70-200 VRII around. It seems expensive but it's much more comfortable and I don't feel as tired with neck/back issues after 5hrs on foot shooting like I used to. I've never found the screw or latch to ever work loose but I also check it now and again (maybe I'm paranoid).

I use the DR1 dual harness and it is superb. My neck is injured after a car crash at work (strangely a year ago today) and was struggling with the weight of 1 series bodies hanging off it for long periods. With the BR I've had not one but two weighty body / lens / flash combinations on at a time for up to 12 hours without issue.

Whether you go for the black rapid or the qstrap both meet the same objective, spreading the camera and lens weight across your shoulder and body. To be honest I brought the black rapid first then found out about the q strap, I have used it walking around Whipsnade zoo all day several times and have to say its the best way to walk about with a camera. If I'm out with the camera on a tripod and i have a distance to walk the camera normally goes on the strap, its so much easier. It takes 3kg of camera and lens very well, you hardly know its there. I've read all about the black rapid failures and the unscrewing mount, all I do is check the screw and usually have one hand on it most of the time.

The worst thing about my black rapid rs7 is that I didn't buy it ten years earlier...It is so comfortable to wear, and my backpack is comfortable on top of it as well...Super, highly recommended...

After all of the positive feedback ive just ordered the rs-sport camo edition...sounds like a silent night mattress on your shoulder! Good game!

Thanks for the advice guys, so it looks like the Black Rapid gets the universal thumbs up!

RS-7 ordered and on its way

Good choice, was just about to post that I've had the connectors fail on 2 q-straps of different designs so won't be ordering a third!

Excellent choice....i have 2

The thing I like about my Blackrapid RS7 is that the strap is always out of the way at the bottom - I find that conventional straps attached to the strap lugs seem to get in the way more, and conventional straps always seem too short when worn across the body (I have never liked wearing straps round my neck)
